I have successfully been able to open the ARC files using the ARCtool.exe but am not familiar with all the folder structure and sub folders that are extracted.
Can anyone tell me if there is a tutorial on how to extract the files so that we can use them in 3DS max? Im looking to grab some of teh players models, and the stage models. I see files extensions like .mrl and .mod (haven't seen these before) I know the TEX is for textures.. any help would be appropriated.
Cheers

Cheers .Mod file is the main mesh of the ARC you opened, to open it you have to use This script. Run the script, and click 'import Mod', then choose the .Mod files. then you can export the mesh to 3DS/OBJ format ( always click on 'hide degen' box to hide invisible mesh) about the MRL file, it's only for direct to the TEX files

Same poly count but higher resolution textures, plus, on REHD there are only a few rooms actually in 3d, most of the areas are pre-rendered like re1, 2 and 3.

it's an image that pretends to be an 3d room, the quality of the game highly improves and the game only have to deal with monsters / players / items / moveable stuff, so it increases the game performance and the resources needed by the game are reduced, however this method requires a "mask" system, those mask are images that overlap the room BG and they will allow the player to stand behind objects and give the player the feeling of depth, walking and standing behind a table, chair, corpses, etc. . plus, it needs a boundary system, almost all of these games, but this style of pre-rendered images and camera angles need to fit with the boundaries even when the camera angle changes, this method is used in old games like dino crysis and resident evil, This to boost the power of the playstation back then, but they kept the idea on the Remake, as the result, they created one of the best looking games of those years. here's an example, if you look on the paintings room .arc you'll probably not find any room model, just the paintings because they are 3d objects, and here's the proof: no paintings, only a hole where the game will insert the model. what amazes me and most of the people is that those rooms needed so much dedication on their making, personally, as an ex RE2 modder, i would call this work pure art.

Fascinating! It's so interesting how developers often come up with creative ways to maximize performance… They say that necessity is the mother of invention, and this is a good example of it…

-IronSoul- do you know if there are 3D stage models for the exterior of the Mansion, maybe even the front of the mansion?
