It seems that I'm the only one who has enjoyed this game immensely and I consider it more successful, than the first part. Your not the only one, I'm currently a few days in and still LOVING it, I actually enjoy the new "hub worlds" where now I get to explore and investigate to find items or story elements, I'm a big fan of RPGs and exploration so this type of game is right up my alley, I spend most of my time just exploring in the game lol, I'm currently on Chapter 7 at the moment, also the minigames you unlock later on are legit fun and its nice to have something like that already ingame since I felt RE7 was incredibly lacking in everything other department and simply focused on the maingame and story alone.

I didn't finshed the game yet, but I can tell that art scenario of TEW1 is better (TEW1 art is more epic), CH3 of TEW2 is so wide, I don't liked that open part because I spended about 7hours there to fully explore it, but at least the others CH are actually pretty good, I noted that it have decreased the dificult (I'm playing Nightmare) and enemies are more blindly this time, they lose me from they FOV faster and they don't even see the light, you can stealth kill almost all of those enemies, TEW1 enemies notice even my flashlight xD and are much harder in nightmare, also I missed the matches and those trap bombs. Overall it appears to be better than RE4 yet for me, so my top 3 survivor horror games now is; TEW1, TEW2 and RE4, at least for now. Oh yeah the replay value looks good too with the CH3 being the exception xD. btw: About the villains I loved Stefano and I don't liked the priest, monsters look awesome and Bosses too.

I finished it yesterday and i gotta say its better than Resident Evil 7 xD It really shows what survivor Horror is xD but lets not forget who is responsible for The Evil Within after all its the father of Survivor horror Shinji Mikami xD its sad that he had to go away from capcom to realize his dream of making the most epic survivor horror game ever Comparing it to RE7 its like GOLD EDITION WORTHY not that crap of a FPS game capcom made xD the Story the gameplay the Stealth everything in TEW2 is just awesome im glad it turned out the way i wanted it But hopefully Capcom can see what he did and learn that they need to fix their crappy taste and fix it fast xD cuz seriously Id rather play TEW1 and TEW2 than deal with that Crappy FPS Outlast wanna be game called RE7 xD

I actually much preferred this over the 1st one. The 1st one to me was such a chore to finish, not sure why I just didn’t end up liking it.
i could sit here and also compare this game to RE7 but they are 2 very different games which both have pros and cons in they’re own rights. so im not gonna waste my time with that.
The more open world aspect really felt great to me. It was fun just exploring and finding loot and suddenly finding Bosses and Enemies that were just walking around. the side quests also were quite nice. They were mostly short and sweet and had good rewards.
SPOILERS!
My only complaints Are the First Person scene (What exactly what the point of that? Kinda ruined the flow for me)
And the boss fights. Stefano’a boss fight was terribly easy and wasn’t really that fun.
and the Theodore Boss fight was just Lowkey Lazy as fuck. I would rather fight him then a boss rush that used rehashed enemies from the first game.
All around I did really enjoy the game. One of the best Horror games I’ve ever played? Far from it.
Still don’t care for Shinji these days & Still don’t care that RE isn’t anything like this, like most people want. But I will defenitly be replaying once I get a chance.

Finished it two days ago, and I must say, it's really good. But TEW1 has a feeling that can't be re-made, it's just so..unique and perfect. Theodore is probably my favourite character in the game, I love his burning fake Illuminados sign Great game, but low re-play value, atleast in my opinion.

I just finished the game. I didn't like it at all. The expansion from narrow-like hallways to a wide open world was a stupid idea. Who the fuck came up with that idea? I just loved the in-escapability that followed you through TEW1. You are a prisoner of STEM, you're not a fucking boss. + too much drama shit.

Evil Within 2 REVIEW ! WARNING, POSSIBLE STORY, CHARACTERS & ETC SPOILERS !!! ALSO SOME POSSIBLE EVIL WITHIN 1 SPOILERS !!! Ok here we go, first of all before i start with my review i want to tell you that i completed it twice , first time on mid difficulty and the second time on nightmare. I found i guess almost all secrets and stuff (not all , but most of it) Now to the game. I actually really enjoy it and like it quite a lot, even enjoy it second time more than the first. This game is a masterpiece ? No. This game is great? Yes. In terms of the story this is a pure sequel to the first game. In short this was a great game which consisted from elements of Resdient Evil, a little bit of Silent Hill, a bit Uncharted and of cource The Last Of Us was the game where devs take some inspiration. The Good The graphics is now much better than in the first game, for me the game was stable and no problems at all, running great at ultra. Picture is really good. Game had some very very beautiful locations i give credit to devs for this. Gameplay is pretty much the same. Finally you can run longer and after some upgrades you can almost forget about stamina running out) I really like that Sebastian now have his own safehouse with a lot of features (especially that RE4 bonus) The story now gives you much deeper look at the main character and the others. 3 main villians are pretty good. Stefano was a pretty cool villian. Some people says that final fight with him is easy and boring, where i actually enjoy that fight sequence ( try to beat him on nightmare, it wont be boring for damn sure) Father Theodore was good too , and final fight with him was a full throwback at EV1 , again a lot of people dislike that for some reason, and again i did enjoy it for what it was, and i kind of awaitied that something like that will happen consider Theodore's abilities to manipulate mind. Moira as main villian didnt surprised me, but i did like her ice abilities opposite Theodore's fire ones. Final fight with her wasnt something super new, but i actually enjoy it more than that final fight with Ruvik in Ev1. The most cool boss was Obscura, she looked like she was come right from Silent Hill series) She was really interesting creature in this game. Another cool enemy was nurse with knife, kind of remind me of nurses from Silen Hill) Quite fast and dangerous enemy) Story feels complete, and at the end you dont feel unsatisfied in terms of story. By the end story answers on almost all questions, and even gives you some answer about what happen with some characters from previous game. Every charcater in this game had its moments even if it is a small ones. I did like Esmeralda, she was interesting character for sure, she was written nicely in to the whole story. Too bad she didnt had more screen time. All game moments with her was probably one of the best in the game, especially that bloody shootout with Sebastian against LOT of enemies in that old house!))) (felt like a throwback to RE4) The open world works fine, i really enjoy all that side quests you can find and complete. Tree of abilites and skills are now much bigger and better than in the first game, so there is plenty to choose from (close to the end at nightmare difficulty i manage to open almost every single one ability from that tree, so it is possible to unlock all except one specific ability in this tree, if you will put some work to find and kill all enemies and mid bosses) Also i did like that now you have workbenches where you can create/or should i say repair broken ones you can find in union?) wepons and ammunition to them. You can also create ammunition and medkits on your own but it will cost you more parts. The story lets you look deeper in to the main character and his life. Also i did enjy random, and side quest appearance of ghost lady , it was nice horror moments, and also let you look deeper in Sebastian's personal story. Developers had HALF less time than when they did first game, so i think they made a good game.
The Bad The game itself become much easier game, and some ppl will find that as a positive thing where i love challenge, and i didnt like that. Even at nightmare difficulty beside few boss fights, it wasnt that hard. When you play EV1 at nightmare, there is a LOT of situations where you can be in real danger and need to think and plan your actions, not to mention that bosses there at nightmare is damn hard ones) And i dont want to remind you about akumu difficulty there, which was badass hardest difficulty i didnt play in a long time. The game now is not so much a survival horror, now it is an adventure survival game with horror elements. The game is honestly not scary anymore, there is a few scary moments but still it is not like the first evil within, there is no actually scary and dangerous bosses like Laura in EW, sooo if you looking for really scary game, this is not one of them. Also the amount of situations where you need to think fast and you are in a really difficult dangerous situation are quite minimum in this game, i guess very few, the first Evil Within was full of it, this game almost dont have this kind of situations... In the first Evil Within in many locations you need to act very carefuly and think about next move, cause of different traps (in this game you wont find any traps at all, exept Stefano's camera traps, but they actually help you) Even though we have open world now, traps would be nice addition, but you still have that crossbow and can place traps by yourself. Enemies here is also dont care about your flashlight, and when you get corner stealth kill ability, you can stealth kill them even if they have an aware status amd running to your possible location. It is cool that you can kill them this way, but makes game much much easier where i prefer challenge. You may say, love challenge, dont use this ability, yeah right, but honestly if you have a possibility then why not use it , right?>) I just want to say that if this ability wouldnt present in game at all, it could be a bit harder and challenging) I woud be glad if the story had less soap opera, sometimes it feels that there is too much drama in story. I didnt really like that Moira appearance in stem, her clothes is kind of ripoff from Ruvik, im sure devs could come up with something much better and cooler for her. It was lazy. The game donesnt really have any memorable bosses, like Keeper, Laura from the first game. Exept Obscura i guess. The boss with flamthrower, was good but thats it , it was not great, just ok. The whole place where the fight is happening and set up and the boss itself are good but this fight never go to the edge, to the limit, it is just there. Would be nice if close to the end of this fight additional oridnary enemies would appear or there would be limited area covered in fire for final parts of this fight, but nothing actaully happen just you and this boss. A bit boring. Also the game did mention about Ruvik and Leslie, but doesnt really explane everything as we want, sooo if we will get 3rd game the questions about them probably will be answered, but honestly i was awaitied some answers in this game, but that never happen. And one more thing here which i find kind of strange, probably just a bad character development but still... At the end of the game the head of the Mobius , the mystery administrator was killed the same way as all other members of Mobius, after stem was destroyed (or turned off/whatever) all Mobius members were killed because all of them were connected to stem through the microchips installed in their heads. Ok i can understand that it is a part of the story ok, BUT, i mean is the leader of Mobius was THAT stupid to not have ANY backup plan for this kind of situation??? He really blindly beliaved that this kind of situation NEVER could happen??? I mean if he was a BOSS/leader/owner of this organization, HE MUST HAD some backup plan , or maybe more advanced microchip which wont allow him to die after stem could be destroyed??? Or simply be ONLY one member of Mobius who DONT have chip in his head??? I guess this was just a bad writing or bad character development. I understand that devs need to finish game on the positive note, and make storyline complete, but still.... This is actually my only big complain about whole story, i really want some final fight or showdown with administrator at the end of the game, but that never happen... This is why I liked EW1 more in terms of story because after 2 Kidman dlc's you really feel that story is complete, where here final act felt rushed... Who knows though maybe we will get 1 or 2 dlc addons for this game too, but since the main story here complete, i honestly dont know about what this dlc could be??? Though since this game have a very nice bonus for RE4 admirers, i guess DLC with Mercenaries type game mode would be damn good) We will see...
The Ugly Obscura , such a cool boss but the game never actually let her go all out. First fight with her was good, but felt more like warmup before real showdown, which never happens. Second time it is just a stealth , where you just need to escape. Soo Obscura was underused boss, cool one but underused. I was awaited more from chainsaw girl boss, which is later almost become ordinary enemy, (not really , more like mid boss you can find in open area) Trailer suggest she will be important for the story and etc, but in fact she is not. Stefano is an interesting character, and i thought he would be more deeper character than what he really is in this game. And even though i did like final fight with him, it wasnt very inventive. I did enjoy Theodor's final fight, but i still think that after throwback bosses, one on one fight with Theodore himself would be quite nice addition... And also even though i did enjoy this, all 3 Theodor's bosses was quite easy even at nightmare difficulty, Laura here is almost a joke compare to herself in EW1... I really like Esmeralda, but story delete her quite fast (not really fast but still) she deserve to be longer in the whole story and etc. Would be nice to see dlc with her. The first game introduce "the need to burn your enemies after killing them", this game completely ignore this fact, maybe because this is the other stem and creatures here are different by nature, but probably because developers decide to "easy things" for player as well as get rid of traps. Again i miss this feature. Also instead of lantern, we get ordinary flashlight. Lantern was so much cooler. The open world here is not really open, this game actually have only two big open locations, and one of them is changed for fire act. Yes they quite big especially first one, but thats it, all other locations are not open world like, and more like the first game, yes there is other big locations, but they are pretty straight forward. Sooo call this game an open world would be mistake. I cant say open world didnt worked here, it is work and work good, but thx to open world, game lost its horror , and well... become more easy. On the other hand game had enough locations with small corridors and etc just like the first game, soo the game try to be open world in some places but at the same time trying not to forget about first game straight forward locations. It works good, but without traps, and sudden threat or dangerous situations like in the first game, you feel yourself quite safe in most situations, i wouldnt feel the same in EW1 especially at nightmare difficulty. Remember EW1 when Juli was trapped and you and Joseph need to kill a lot of enemies and save her? You wont find stuff like that here, yes there is badass moments, but not that often like in EW1. I do understand that developers had HALF less time for this game than for the first but still... Clearly devs desided to go less horror this time, and more adventure, i did enjoy this game and i liked the story, but first game wasnt friendly to the player, and thats what i liked about it, this game is FRIENDLY to the player, and even though its good, it is less scary, less horror, more easy than EW1, i wanted double portion of EW1 but instead got half of it. Another reason why this game is less scary is probably because of story, you from the start know where you go what you need, and what kind of stuff awaits you there) Yes there will be surprises, but not enough to put you in a mystery and horror like the first game. After first game, I wish this game story would go a bit different direction with Moira character, i did hope to see her actually as the head of the Mobius, and i thought she was bad character from the start, but this game go with her much more easy way. I did enjoy that Juli Kidman got her moment of action in all this, but really miss her in stem (would like to see her in DLC, but probably that wont happen) The voice acting was ok maybe even good, though i would prefer old voices for both Sebastian and Kidman. The bonuses for replay are hmmm, not really that good as in first game, where you get a characters/creatures gallery, and variety of bonuses, where here you get 3 new costumes, and few weapons, and some green gel for new game+ , but second time on nightmare i still enjoyed this. It is not masterpiece but quite good. My honest score is 7.5 out of 10, do i recommend this game ? Yes i do, but if you want real challenge and mystery, and horror go with EW1. If you didnt like RE7 (as I) and want yourself a new RE4 go with this and you wont be disappointed))) It is just cool action/acventure/survival game with some horror elements in it. Probably you wont find anything like this on market right now. P.S. Is there a possibility for third game? In terms of story , yes small window present) As for possibility itself, it will happen if the sales will be good, and i dont know but as i heard game didnt sell good for now. Honestly i would love to see 3rd part. Return of hmmm ok ( no spoilers )some of the characters from first game would be nice) P.P.S. I honestly would wait another year, that devs could make better and harder game and give us real EW2. I understand marketing and all, but honestly they released game too early, devs should take their time and didnt rush project...
