OK, so I have made an interesting discovery, bit of a rant ahead but it all has a point...
Well as you may know I don't own the same game as most of you all do.
I instead own the D rated "Biohazard 7 - Low Violence" Japanese version and
Z rated "Biohazard 7 - Grotesque" Japanese version".
In Japan they get 2 versions for the price of 1, but interestingly neither Japanese version is completely uncensored.
The only completely uncut version of RE7 is the "Resident Evil 7 World Wide" version that most of you guys own.
So this had me stuck with 2 censored Biohazard 7 games and no way of playing "Resident Evil 7 - World Wide" uncut version
:aaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh:
OK, next steps to the solution...
1. Sign into my GFs Steam account and buy RE7
2. Install it on my PC.
3. Backup all downloaded files (all including exe)
4. Sign back into my Steam account.
5. Steam decides my GFs files are not valid so they are deleted (Crapballs)
6. Wait for Steam to re-download my useless files.
7. Replace those files with the backed up files from my GFs account.
8. Run the game
9. IT WORKED, I NOW HAVE THE FULL UNCENSORED RE7 on my account. (But there is one BIG CATCH to this method)
The Catch...
I must back up my save file after every game I play.
For those curious your save file can be found here...
Program Files (x86)/Steam/userdata/[ur steam user id]/418370
If my game ever boots into Bio 7 mode (updates, Steam integrity checks cause this) my RE7 WW save file will be deleted and I'll be back to the Low-violence Jap release.
Finally To My Questions
Shouldn't have Denuvo have stopped this from working or did this only work because it was all done on the same PC?
The fact it allowed me swap in EVERY FILE (exe included) makes me question what Denuvo does in this game.
I wonder what would happen if someone else swapped in the Japanese files over there RE7 install, would they suddenly have one of the censored Biohazard games?
Or would it fail because they are using files from another PC?
Thoughts?
