I'm more annoyed by the stupidity of the DLC. They just don't care - a shame this thing has an audience. I have no doubt this will sale a whole lot.
I said this months ago but at this point I just want a solid REmake2 and I'm done but I'm sure they'll mess that up too.

I'm kinda like... *this* close to just cutting RE out of my life and giving up, because RE7 was such a colossal letdown that it's almost as if Capcom mooned me whilst flipping me off and screaming "HAHA FUCK YOU".

Away of RE7 being success or failure, Capcom took the decision of diversify the series, so for example, Takeuchi said on his interview that RE2 remake, is not aimed to the horror fans, but to the young crowd of gamers that didn't played RE2 on its time... And same, Kawata also told that they know there are gamers that likes other things in the franchise and there are other game in development for them. So maybe the RE7 style could return, perhaps on RE8, or perhaps on any other RE game if they finally ditch the numbered installments. But RE franchise will bring more games of different styles. (Other thing is the "quality" of those other games... watching that for the RE7, the "flagship of their last 4 years plan", they managed to present a small game that hardly can compete with any modern AAA title, right now I can't have high hopes for their spin off games...

I still would have loved a option to switch between 1st and 3rd person view (they could have had both options in this game, pressing "L3" key to jump between the perspectives); for me 1st person just takes away a lot from the game's character development and the character interactions throughout the game. It is still good from what I have played so far... but with a few changes, it could have been so much more...

The idea of a RE2make being made to cater the younger crowd somehow makes my soul shrivel up in terror.
Ironically, scarier than RE7.

Ignoring all the negativity and bringing a more positive viewpoint here The game was really amazing, I have done 7 playthroughs in total I enjoy the amount of horror they brought back, the puzzles, the fact you can hide from enemies is really cool too. The bosses felt much more Resident Evil 'esque to the older roots, I really enjoyed the molds too, could have used more variety but its not something that makes me care really lol. The music, the noises and the overall environments themselves felt very eerie and horrifying, I enjoyed the gore too, that was an amazingly added bonus! The amount of weapons was amazing too, and Madhouse was also a really fun mode, though I used some of the unlockables and it proved rather boring, I think im over it haha My playthroughs Easy,Normal,Madhouse Easy Mode (Best Speed run was achieved alongside no healing and not using the item boxes more than said listed times) Normal (my first play of the game, which was normal and I was investigating basically everything and taking my time) Madhouse (It was pretty easy for me personally, but I know some others are about 10hrs into it and have over 55 restarts and all that XD)

I mean, after what RE6 was, I can see why there's such a perception that "RE7 is a return to the series' roots". On some capacity, when we compare the contents of the games we will find many similarities, however when we break down the games and compare to RE7 we discover that the game never truly returned to the "series' roots" but rather what some fans consider the "series' roots" are.
I take marketing statements very lightly at this point. I must add that EVERY DETAIL COUNTS when you break down an existing piece of media and analyse it technically, so I expected at least some truth to a buzz statement saying a vague term like "the series' roots". Let me ask you, what are the series' roots to you then? And how did RE7 fare in returning to them?

I just genuinely hope this won't become the standard for the series, because the amount of hype and fanboism this game is getting is absurd, especially because now all the bandwagoning "Capcom ruined the series with 4 to 6" fans are finally enjoying the return of "horror" (are jump scares really horror though?) and the series' trademark item boxes. Don't worry, RE1 was supposed to be a FPS game. But it was scraped due to limitations of old consoles where it would look ugly. So yeah, the days of RE4 over the shoulder Action game are over. A new era begins, FPS era. Dont get me wrong, I am hatin this game only for FPS camera. Its just I hate FPS badly. I rather have Fix camera (RE1 style) than this Fps shit. REVII is Far EVII, Resident Field VII, Call of EVII infinite etc. I mean FPS. So yeah, even though few of us wants Anti FPS camera, majority wants FPS. So even if they care about us, we wont be able to make enough money for them too feed thwir employers. Also, we should buy more and nore DLC as a charity for devs.

It means the game Wont be that scary. The game wont have gore: Like Leon chopped into pieces, shredding zombiess into bloddy pieces, disected Claire and so on. And the last but not the least: The Game will probably First Person Shooter. Since every kid I talk to now a days, only plays Call Of Duty and Battle Field, Far cry. Barely any signs of TPS games. So the game wont feature fixed cam and TPS cam, PROBABLY. I am not sure. But it can happen.

Source? Tired of people throwing things around and not sourcing it, different styles isnt a bad thing, the game is about biological weapons, being about horror isnt what its restricted too, dont see how this is an issue.

Sure, you can find the Takeuchi statement in his Developer interview of Capcom Inverstors website, it was made at endings of 2016, but they are releasing the interview of each developer along the 2017, The Jakeuchin's interview was released the next day after the RE7 release.
The Kawata statement was repeated here and there in multiples interviews along these 6 months, for example, Digitaltrends released the past 12 of December other article about the Kawata interview of the Playstation experience, and between them, there are the ones where Kawata mentions how Capcom is working to bring forward the action experience of the modern RE games.
In adittion, you may also read the gameinformer interviews to Okabe, about RE: Rev2 on November 2014, and how this one is horror focused while the future numbered intallment was focused in the action route. (oops, something happened. O_ò)

Different styles of GAMEPLAY isn't a bad thing, but it's worth noting (As I said before) that RE loses all identity once you strip out the Eastern horror aspects and go full Western horror.
RE managed to cling to its identity through two FPS games, several isometric games, a few action horror games, and more. Being an FPS isn't what killed RE7 for me, it's the direction it took.

I've been a fan for more than a decade. How is it that only recently I heard this "RE was meant to be first person" excuse whenever somebody criticizes the camera change? It seems only convenient to bring up a possibly scrapped concept to validate the gameplay redesign.
Capcom are a business, and a very greedy one. I couldn't possibly believe they didn't manufacture this game to cater to as many players as they possibly could. RE4 to RE6 are also victims of that sort of thought process, and RE6 being the red alert that their generic formula got tired, so they just went back and designed a different generic forumla.
As for what "RE7" we got was... I believe they wanted to explore VR gaming, and once they had that going combined with the absolute failure that RE6 was they decided to scrap whatever they had going and number this title to produce more hype.
