I've converted a mod for the older PC version of RE4 to the Ultimate HD version! The Blacktail is an awesome weapon, but it just looks so boring to me and I had to get something more interesting in there. There are a precious few download links that still work for the old version of this game, but I did find this Beretta mod. The original mod had the gun a bit oversized in Leon's hand, so I shrunk it down and created some new skins to go with it! All of the variants are included in the download, just pick which ImagePackHD file you want to give it a try! Any feedback is welcome! Hopefully it's cool to share this. The original creators of this mod appear to be long gone, but they are: Model, UV - Twinke Masta Skin - Kimono Compile - Nemesis50 Big, big thanks to Son of Persia's tools and especially his very detailed included instructions for enabling me to do this! i love how this weapon looks but i can't seem to get to work it just like the base game blacktail i tryed everthing i can think of

I would double check that you are putting the wep04.udas file into your Em folder and only 1 of the included 02000004.pack files into your ImagePackHD folder. Also be sure the original wep04.udas and 02000004.pack files are either deleted (remember to back them up somewhere else!) OR renamed to something like "02000004Original.pack" to be sure the game isn't still referencing those files over the new ones.
If you've installed the files and the Blacktail still looks just the same in Leon's hand, then I would guess the wep04.udas file was misplaced. BUT if you are still having trouble, please feel free to post again with more details and I'd be happy to try and help you out! I took a little while getting back to you this time because I was busy with a convention, so I promise to get back to you sooner this time.

Also keep in mind that this will only work while you're playing as Leon. In the Ada scenarios, she will still utilize her usual Blacktail handgun.

Hey, this looks terrific! Definitely using it! So I found my post from 2009 on the old forums... man I'm getting old z6.invisionfree.com/Resident_Evil_4_PC/index.php?showtopic=8798&hl= I am super committed to 'reviving' these. How much trouble was this? I took a look at the new toolset post and while I am very appreciative of Son of Persia's work, it does look a tad more involved than the old process. Any pointers? Will I need to fire up 3ds max for any stage of this? Edit: Nevermind, just saw that there is a separate tool specifically for this! Awesome!

I apparently don't have permission to view that thread but I'm assuming it was about reviving old mods for UHD? Unfortunatley, it's been a while since I did this so my memory isn't too fresh on how this process went, but I do remember one big roadblock I ran up against that I can share with you. After this pistol I wanted to try bringing in an old mod for the TMP, but it kept breaking the game. I found out from reading Son of Persia's documentation that UHD has a limit on how many polygons the weapons could have, and the new model I was trying to import had too many. So, if you have the skills in 3ds Max to optimize the tri count on the gun model and redo the UV's if necessary, you should be able to get any model you want in there.I don't have a working copy of 3ds Max and so have been using Blender for all my RE4 modding needs. Blender works just fine for importing/exporting models and viewing models when I'm editing textures, but when I realized what I would need to do to get that TMP mod to work, I just decided to give it up! If you want, and if you're going to try and tackle this, I can try and find the part of the documentation that talks about the triangle limit on the models for you. If I remember right, it does specify a specific number. Could be a fun challenge in game modeling! Or if there's anything else you think I might be able to help you with, just lemme know and I'll do my best to do so! Best of luck on your revivals!

Hey thanks! -snip- Best of luck on your revivals! Thanks for the response! I have been working at this for a couple days and have gotten a few 'Ganados' back on their feet . Your OP inspired me to bite the bullet and give all this a go. Its actually pretty funny, the skin I am having trouble with is my own TMP, and with it I have also come to the very same conclusion about the poly count. I do remember reading about it in Son of Persia's tutorial, but at the time I hoped it only applied to fully-animated characters with many bones. Unfortunately it looks like it affects everything. The Highest poly model I have gotten working was between 3-4k triangles, my TMP is 5.2k : / I have two versions, one with the stock, and one without naturally. The stockless version only has a suppressor added so its polycount is permissible and it works fine, however I included an Aimpoint optic and bigger lam module to the stocked version. It alllmost works, if I don't purchase the reload speed upgrade, and never draw the knife while I have it equipped, lol. I've also tried a Desert Eagle skin I had for the blacktail, but that bad boy is over 7k tris... the game simply crashes. I used to have 3ds max, and I was proficient at manipulating the finer details of mesh optimization, but that was several years ago. I too am reduced to Blender at the moment (although it looks to have grown up quite a bit), and I don't know jack about working with it. Oh well. Once I finish this playthrough I'm gonna move on to RE5, hopefully weapon modding in that generation is more forgiving.

I went and caught up on your posts and realized you were already all over this, nice job! Those problems with your TMP are so strange! I'll look forward to seeing what you do in RE5. I'll have to pick it up during the next Steam sale and follow suit. The guns in that game are in dire need of some character!

can we please get this for resident evil 6 I've been wanting new weapon mods for resident evil 6 for awhile lol awesome mod by the way i'd love to see leaon with a Beretta M9 in Re6 I would too! If I ever get obsessed over RE6 like I did with 4 down the line I will try and make it happen, but I'll be honest, the chances are slim! Hopefully someone else will get to it soon.

Sorry to say I won't have the time to do this for you any time soon, but I would encourage you to try and do it for yourself. You won't regret it if you take the time to figure it out! Check out Son of Persia's post here. You can extract the model and textures from this mod to replace the handgun. If you follow his instructions closely, you should be able to do it, no problem! If you have any questions too, I'd be glad to help if I can.

Nothing is impossible! Reading through the tools is how I learned, but, if you can't, then it's worth a try to post a mod request in the general forum. Maybe someone else who's currently working with these tools can help you out. There's also NEGAARMAX's High Poly Weapons mod that includes a nicer looking Handgun that would be better than nothing.
