So I quite like the Nazgul both design wise and as a concept but for the longest time it'd bothered me not knowing which Kings of Men were the Ringwraiths Frodo met at Weathertop. Since I couldn't find anything to show which was which I've been looking at as many picture as I could find in an attempt to link which King was which Nazgul and after some investigating I think I know who is who and how to prove it. Bigger pictures (including their Sword's, Ring of Power and Crowns) here: Spirit Warden's Imgur
These are the Kings, with a lovely cameo of Alan Lee and John Howe and these are who I've narrowed the Weathertop wraiths down to (This picture will be referred back to throughout this post)
And these are the Nazgul as they appear on Weathertop: (From Left to Right they'll be referred to as (Nazgul 3, Khamul, Witch-King, Nazgul 4 and Nazgul 5)
So to start off we have the easiest one which is the Witch-King, he is the middle King. When we examine his Nazgul self you'll notice that his shirt when he was alive now serves as his under-shirt as a Ringwraith (Note the collar and buttons).
That his shirts are the same was important because when you look at the man left to the Witch-King, his cloak has a distinct piece of fabric which is holding the two sides of his cloak together as well as the embroidery around it. Now when you look at the Ringwraiths only one has the exact same distinct piece of fabric and embroidery. (This one shall be referred to as Nazgul 3)
So now we know the Nazgul have very old and tattered versions of the original costume and they bear a slight facial resemblance to the original form, it became a process of elimination. Khamul next. As you can see the fabric is single-toned and has a simplistic embroidery. His shirt is also buttoned up and so to my eyes, the King who matches this is the only remaining on the right played by Alan Lee
Now for Nazgul 4, this one has a very intricate patter down the middle and his collar is folded. The King with a costume who matches him in my opinion is the last man on the far left as his clothing also has the same intricate pattern and folded collar.
Lastly Nazgul 5, this fabric is all patterned and he has a distinct metal piece (a brooch or tie) and his cloak is also rounded around his arms. To me, the closest one in both costume and face is the 2nd King on the left.
So these are who I believe are the corresponding Nazgul on Weathertop to the Kings of Men from the prologue, and from the prologue the position of the Wraiths are (left to right), Nazgul 4, 5, 3, Witch-King and Khamul.
I look forward to what other people think of my findings.
