Ugh, guys... Why are the "Separate Ways" cutscenes pre-rendered??? They're not even in HD. They're the same Ubisoft used to port the 2005 version.
Damn you Capcom. You did it again, you lazy bastards.
Since GFWL is shutting down I believe that all games using GFWL will shut down as well. That includes RE5. I believe, since Capcom is porting shit to HD & PC these days... (Like RE4 & Revelations WITH THE FUCKING PRE-RENDERED CUTSCENES) They could port the Gold Edition (RE5 + DLCs) for Steam. Leaderboards & all. BUT NO PRE-RENDERED CUTSCENES.
That would be fucking great.

Well the cutscenes in the DLC scenarios are Real-time so CAPCOM would have no reason to make them pre-rendered. unless they wanted to fuck with people lol or laziness and we all know CAPCOM...

Besides they have been in every version of the game that had that mode...

It's worth mentioning that Separate Ways cutscenes have been pre-rendered in every port of the game. That includes Wii, Xbox 360, PS3, original PC port and now this PC port. If it was easy for them to make the cutscenes real-time, they probably would have done so a long time ago.

There were plenty of those lying around(hell i even made some myself) including even HD interface. And let's be honest a lot of textures in this game are still horrendous.I don't recall the tactical vest on Leon having white line on the side, like the uv map isn't well adjusted. The stretched textures on the top the punisher are just ridiculous. And the list goes on... - Post processing? Plenty of app offering that or at least mimicking it. - Anti-aliasing ? lol really? - Proper mouse support ? Apparently still a joke in this version. - Shader consistency across platform? Please lol - Real Time cutscenes? Yes but apparently not ALL the scenes. - A Leaderboard? O MA GAWD, i'm going to faint! If anything, that version should have been the original release. There is nothing in it,from a technical standpoint, that couldn't be accomplished 7 years ago on PC.I'm not questioning the quality of the game itself(it's an amazing one), i'm questioning the quality of a port with "HD" attached to it.As much as i enjoy the game( I've modded it bordering obsessional levels), i try to be rational in my purchases. I have a finite amount of dough and i very much want to make sure i'm not throwing it away. Capcom isn't exactly in the best of shape financially wise and they will stop at nothing to squeeze more money from the fan base lol. But then again it comes down to personal preferences. If you are really getting some plus-value from this version, you're justified in your purchase and god bless.

Here's a rundown - the original PC port is an IDENTICAL port of the PS2 version. The PS2 version is a very good port. For the PS2. It was competently ported and suffers from the PS2's limitations. So there are no problems with it at all, no misaligned UV maps, nothing weird like that. It is just graphically downgraded so that it could be run on a PS2 which was inferior hardware wise to a Gamecube. It was very competently ported and WORKED flawlessly.
The first PC version was a perfect port of this. But that's the unfortunate part. That the port was based on a very limited version of the game. So while it worked flawlessly, it was significantly lacking in many areas, due entirely to it being directly from the PS2.
This new version is from a far superior version. So at it's base level, it's a far better version of Resident Evil 4. Unfortunately, this time around, it was NOT competently ported, and has a lot of bugs and missing features from it's source.
So I'd say until this version gets fixed up some more, both versions have different pros and cons and overall are about equal.
Original: Bad version, great port. HD Ultimate: Great version, bad port.
It's such a shame.
