lens flare will be probably added by post - processing. i'm ok with this edition of RE4 as long as i have real time shadows and similar gamecube lighting.

I don´t think we´ll be able to implement things like bump maps, since it´s hardcoded on the executable file, i don´t know much about lens flares, DOF and other effects. But i don´t believe we´ll be able to implement it too, not like on GC/WII . There´s no bump maps on XBOX360/PS3 versions, but the specular highlights are there , though without the bump maps they´ll seem strange and overexposed, well i really hope CAPCOM will fix at least those lighting bugs before they release the game!this is unacceptable if they don't fix. weskeralbert: Lens flares are not post process effects, you can be sure about that!

Post process effects don´t greatly enhances visual quality ,they are just simple things like color filters,FXAA,contrast control, sharpen control , they´ll just make the image more colorful, bright or sharpen, something like sweet FX or that extra filters from RE 5 too. But nothing so special or impressive.

That's what I was affraid... I would be great if adding bump maps is as simple as add a new textures with the same name + "_BM" lol!
Martins, is there some example (some screenshots from another game) showing how modded specular highlights would look? Thanks!

Sorry i don´t have any screenshot right now, but without bump maps we can´t do much , anyways you can see how it'll works on RE 4 UHD in the link below, is exactly the same effect. go to Shininess and change it to 2.0 after you see the difference go back to 32.0, you can play with it, try to change location and specular colour values, after that turn specular highlights on\off and compare ,basically this is all we´ll be able to do only with specular highlights. Here´s the link, try to open it using Mozilla FIREFOX learningwebgl.com/lessons/lesson14/index.html

Ohh, I see. So, you can do nothing but make the object's look more matte or glossy...

I was curious and looked up information on post processing and according to Unreal (a very long topic I make short) the term post processing in games usually refers to a selection of tweaks that are rendered on top of the game before being displayed to the screen. This can include lighting tweaks/ effects (ambient occlusion effects or bloom (HDR lighting)), blur tweaks (like depth of field for example; even motion blur is considered a post process), color effects (like how dark and light a sequence in the game appears) and texture enhancements (various filter tweaks that could be adjusted).
So, I would say at the very least, I think this game will have the effects of the 360 version. This means the lighting will be there, specular highlights, and there is a chance they do some more visual tweaks with other post processing tweaks.
We shall see in 15 days... regardless of what happens it still looks worlds better than the old version as it is (as seen in the current released videos), but it would be cool to see some more visual improvements.
Unrelated to RE4, but an interesting thing Capcom did with the new version of cvx on psn/360 they implemented real world lighting in the game (Capcom mentioned porting CVX into MT Framework for this release, this was one of the little tweaks that was tacked on) that feature shadows when characters and objects obstruct lighting throughout the game. This would be outstanding extra if it was ever added to re4; not happening with this current release but who knows what will happen at a later time.

you're right, maybe Capcom will surprise us in the end and everything will be there, we can only hope for the best!

So here´s the link for the newest twitch stream,by this video we can confirm that the problems of light passing through walls are still there and theres´no lens flare effects too, We also note that the water effects are the same as the XBOX version and are of far lesser quality than the GC / Wii version. It´s really a shame =( Brelston from Capcom Unity said that the post process effects are just simple image filters with nothing special, he ´ll show it in the next stream. So no Depht of field or any lighting or even specular highlights enhacemnet from post process effects. I don´t think they´ll fix these problems so soon, well, at least we´ll have 60FPS, and higher resolutions, better than nothing, i think!

Yeah, I was disappointed with what he said about the post processing too...
It appears to be just three different visual filters, perhaps like what re5 had with a black & white (called classic horror), sepia (retro) and a Noise (noise filter). I am still hoping that the settings 1, 2, 3 (that are shown in the post process option in the stream)are referring to differing degrees of post processing tweaks (for lighting etc.) but, since he kind of down played the feature; I am thinking it is the latter. Still the visuals will be superior compared to the original consoles and the prior pc version, as it is a tweaked version of the 360 port. Just would have sweetened the pot with improved shadows and lighting effects in the game.

Is it really possible no capcom staff member saw that bug with lights visible through walls?? Are they blind or something? That's just grotesque. Flash lights everywhere and absolutely no one saw that there was something wrong?? C'mon...

well.....i'm sad now......wouldn't need so much effort to at least fix those bugs for them. so we're still getting less effects than GC version...that's really annoying...a 2005 game is still better than ps3/360 and this version amazing!!! we also have some bugs!!!
