I'm looking into editing some of the backgrounds, possibly repainting / modelling them to be higher-resolution.
I've extracted all of the Room ARC's but have no idea which files to edit or how to convert them into editable formats. I converted some of the .tex files and they're door skins and lens-flares.
Has anyone got any insight into this? It would be greatly appreciated. =)

Aha, thank you!
New issue though; when loading a background 'reskin' the game just gets stuck in an infinite loop when loading that camera angle.
My process:
1 - Sectus' ARCTool - unpack the .arc using REV-extract 2 - Use Sectus' .bat to convert .tex to .dds 3 - Edit .dds in Photoshop. 4 - Save .dds as DXT1, no alpha 5 - Use RE5 Arctool to convert the .dds back to .tex (pretty sure this is the issue) 6 - Use Sectus' Repack .bat to repack the .arc. 7 - Replace the game's arc 8 - Infinite load when camera changes to edited background
What's the best way to convert the .dds back to .tex? I had a look around and couldn't find a more up-to-date method / tool. =/

I've extracted few rooms myself just to check on the "texture work" CAPCOM did for this REmaster... but that's as far as I had adventured... One thing that you might try, is edit the rev-pc-extract.bat and add "-tex" argument so the textures would be converted to dds at extraction and "registered" inside the ".txt" created file while extracting the ".arc" room... maybe that helps...

Manually edit pc-rev-extract.bat and pc-rev-repack.bat in notepad and add "-tex" before %1, and then you can use these steps: 1 - Extract arc 2 - Edit DDS files 3 - Repack arc

Does anyone know what DXT type you should be using for elements such as the character select screen portraits that do have alpha channels? (As seen in the extracted original DDS files) I've tried the usual DXT1 No Alpha, DXT1 1 bit alpha, and every other type that supports alpha (it's taken me a good chunk of my morning) and all the results tend to look like this: Image

I think most textures with alpha is DXT5.

I think most textures with alpha is DXT5. Unfortunately not Both DXT5 as well as DXT5_NM both result in a similar distorted, squished result.

I see some UI textures have uncompressed image data. Try saving it as RGBA 8.8.8.8.

Can someone change this... (Resident Evil HD Remaster) ...for this? (Resident Evil Gamecube Edition) The water effect on HD Remaster is really awful. I've seen many details better on Gamecube version.

I have some problems to extract the backgrounds (probably because my pc is so old) and if anyone can upload the backgrounds i will be very grateful.
