I was excited up until I read the part "based off of the Resident Evil Film franchise"...
If it where actually based off the canon Resident Evil storyline I would be ecstatic.

I have an idea: I've watched NCIS for 11 years now. And I couldn't be any more excited ('bout NCIS). I want this "TV show" to be just about that. Bioterrorism. BSAA. Not about the moves, 'couse they just suck. balls.
"A series of bizarre murders have occurred on the outskirts of Raccoon City, with signs of cannibalism on the victims' remains. The Raccoon Police Department's Special Tactics And Rescue Service (S.T.A.R.S.) are assigned to investigate the murders." - REmake plot.
Just not like The Walking Dead. Just no.

The movies are terrible in that they promoted action and abandoned what made Resident Evil. However the films made a lot of money to the point of where the developers of the series have gone in favor of the over the top action stunts. The atmosphere of a dark local conspiracy is lost. How something like a pharmaceutical corporation can have something more sinister at it's core. I mean there can be a commentary on how Evil can reside within the corporate world or society if you wanna go deep with it. I mean why did the games have the files and all those puzzles, because there was more to it than of said company is bad. There were evil motives residing in the people themselves. Simmons in RE6 was a nudge to that, how there are more ulterior and sinister motives for power and control. Heck even S.D. Perry's books go off because she writes same plot for every of her books. A long drag on for 75% of the book till wham! suddenly action and suspense, by then one is too bored to endure her writing. This could be definite money motive, and while we can hope that they do a decent job of a TV series, It may deviate once more out of the series's premise and be a disappointment. Capcom is now doing episodic work with it's latest release, RE Revelations 2. Isn't that enough? As long as they are involved and not simply endorsing it, there may be some hope. Usually television shows and mini series are more successful in that they follow the source material (There are exceptions though) as they can build a narrative. I think the series should defiantly branch out rather than try to explicitly depict the games themselves as Paul Anderson failed miserably in that department and the fact he keeps making films within the franchise, says one thing: $$$$$$$$. What I mean is they should capture the atmosphere of the canon universe without breaking it like the films did by explicitly being action eye candy assuming viewers are as brainless as the zombies they depict. I mean Walking Dead is a successful show in the zombie franchise, even it has its down points though and it differs from it's source material in many ways, so ya nothing is perfect. I really like V's idea and as it has potential for drama. But then again what genre will the show be? I mean you could have something like a sitcom like the IT Crowd, but it's in an Umbrella Facility with them being pathologists.

I mean you could have something like a sitcom like the IT Crowd, but it's in an Umbrella Facility with them being pathologists. The Walking Dead is a horror drama. I don't like the idea of adding zombies to RE TV series. It'll be like copying TWD. Like I mentioned NCIS, when a marine or navy officer turns up dead, they send a team to investigate. Same here: When there's a bioterror rumor or a leak or something simular, a BSAA team is sent to investigate. Maybe a Chris appearance or Jill (Julia Voth) in the first couple of episodes. Maybe add Quint and Keith from Revelations as regulars. They lived after that explosion. Director Shinji Mikami gotta be involved. Otherwise, it's just wannabes. The TV show needs to be related to the games, and not the movies. I'm also excited about a Splinter Cell TV Show. After playing Blacklist, I think they can create a story that is episodic and maybe have (like Agents of SHEILD) the Paladin and travel to various places of the globe. Getting a little off topic ^

I just created this account to say that the Resident Evil TV series isn't based in the movies, at least not yet. Actually, it isn't confirmed if it is based on the movies or the games. Some sites posted it is based on the games, others posted it is based on the movies, but there's no official information. We could say that we still have hope, let's wait for more details. Hopefully they take example of successful series like Game of Thrones and The Walking Dead to make the right decision.

if it is not made by Capcom themselves I am not interested in a resident evil TV series, except it would be a story about characters like the one in the Outbreak Files, or a seperated plot like the Manga Marhawa Desire.
I really dont want to see anyone of the characters from the games in a non CG rendered movie or TV series.
