I figured out that all lines stored in HIT files can be changed and it´s even possible to replace them!
First you need a hex editor like HexeditMX.
Lines must have same places like line 0x2E0 Code (em80.hit) replaces 0x2E0 (pl15.hit).
Line Numbers are on the left side!
Some long animated melees have 2 hit codes like Head Flash!
Remember to always have a backup file if something went wrong.
This is currently high experimental!
So please tell me if something is not working for you.

What do you mean by critical strike? You can just change the radius where the attacks deal damage to enemies and nothing else. Else you could get the code from Excella .hit file, where she does critical strike and paste it in your wished model .hit file... But be warned! DLC hit files are different from the original ones.

You have to look in the left corner of your hex editor for them.

Wow, just came across this thread. Do you think editing the hit file per move would help with melee's not connecting with jumping licker?
More info: I switch peoples melee moves and they work on majini/enemies fine. But then against lickers, the melee counter attack does not connect. Licker jumps straight through the character and it misses. What do you think?

I'd love to figure this out. My goal is to widen the attack range so that melee moves do not miss. I replaced the entire hex line (0x380 Leg Front) and replaced with the same line from Wesker's hit file. When I load this arc in the game, it hangs on the loading screen when launching Mercenaries. Anyone know what I'm doing wrong? I'm using the program "Hex Edit". Thanks!
Edit: I also tried editing something in the MTG file and I got the same result, while loading this model with the edited hex file, it hangs on the loading screen. Am I saving the files in the hex editor incorrectly?

Which one Is for the certain Attack, what can be edited And what can't. The same Is with other Files. Mostly if We edit the first line, for example... Game Will not load the game. After you edit file And save it in Hex, it Will create another file, something like backup. It has the same name as the file you were editing except extension. I think it's .bak, So just deleted this one.

I switched to HxD and I am able to save the files and the model is functional/loaded into the game instead of hanging or crashing. I was able to edit the hit file which seems to have adjusted the melee hit radius; SUCCESS! After lots of testing it seems my switched ground attack hit no longer misses. From my testing, all the moves connect and none miss except ONE (in addition to Licker counter). The head move misses if the enemy is knocked backwards (as opposed to stumbling forwards). I wonder which character has the farthest reaching head move and if I should try theirs? Regarding Ground, Finisher, Head, etc having two hit files, does this designate hitting from different angles? I have noticed that ground always moves the player to a few possible different specified angles to the enemy. I wonder if it would be a good idea to pull from several different characters for each angle if any are missing connection?
