In the universe for this series, a virus broke out which killed most humans on Earth, which was carried by birds. Humans tried to stop it by creating their own virus that would kill all the birds, but instead of killing them, it made them evolve quickly, granting incredible intelligence to many of them and increasing their size. Humans and birds continue to clash, periodically waging war. Two primary political parties have arisen: the Hawk Party, which wants to exterminate all humans, and the Dove Party, which seeks to broker peace between the humans and the birds. The Hawk Party conducts biological research in secret in effort to bring about genocide of the human race, which they believe will bring peace (by removing the conflict to begin with). The lady pictured is one of the few remaining humans chilling with her best friend, a rock dove, who she grew up with.

The dragonfly is just some random dragonfly. It looks large because of the perspective.

The artwork is very good, though. I envy people with such talent!

This one is cute, too. The main character is having tea with the button quail who teaches her math and physics class.

It's somewhat less odd to me since I was basically raised by cockatoos (which are quite large birds), but I can imagine for someone who hasn't spent a lifetime with birds, it would be very odd. Of course, having a Moluccan 'too as my second mom probably explains a lot about me and my brand of crazy.
