Hello everyone,
I've always wanted the Chicago typewriter to be a balanced, fully usable alternative to the TMP, and I'm finally attempting to make it happen.
This forum is no doubt the greatest place for RE4 and its modders and I thank you all for helping me get to where I am, but I have hit a bit of a wall right now, I will summarize briefly what I have gotten working and what I would love help from this community for next.
+Chicago Typewriter purchasable at XL Case Merchant ( Originally wanted it to be earlier at the Secret Del Lago cave at night but since there's no new upgrades there so I have no idea how)
+Damage/Reload upgrades working in inventory and buyable Upgrades at Merchant (Capacity was already done and prices are already done for DMG/REL/CAP -- Think I'll be ok adding upgrades as you progress the game)
+Ammo dropping from enemies via companion dll although slightly too common even at 0 Priority / doesn't stop dropping also when carrying large amounts - workaround is to set low amounts for now if I can learn the ITM modding later.
- Merchant is still charging 1m for the weapon after changing price (I think because of below)
- Weapon has its Firepower/Capacity already upgraded to exclusive ( No idea how to set it to base level 1, reload is at lvl 1 from being added in)
- Would love to change its firing speed to be slightly slower than the TMP, from a base level of around .12 upgradeable later at the merchant to be .10, adding upgrades now doesn't change the value and obviously has no price.
Using either of the two ITM master files sideload to get the ammo to appear on the ground is also making me crash with HD Project and RE4Tweaks - tried changing all ini settings, guess this is just a game limitation.
So far I have done this hex editing the bio4.exe, I feel like if I understood how to use all the new powerful tools you amazing modders have shared with the community this mod would be fairly easy to make but I am very new to RE4 modding, gonna take me a while to get familiar with all the terms.
My ideal end goal would be to have the Chicago typewriter function like any other gun, with full upgrades and ammo spawning on enemies and boxes if you have the weapon, just from what I have already learned now I could make my dream balance mod of nerfing exclusive upgrades and altering where weapons are unlocked etc.
I am aware of the amazing mods like Rising Of Evil - only one I have actually played and Arrange Mod, where the Chicago typewriter is a usable weapon, but I would love to make a base game mod first.
