Door Sound Environment
doorsexx.xwb file
DSE files are files contained within the room UDAS containers that tell the game engine which doorway sound to play when the player walks through an AEV doorway to another room. The sounds for the doorway can be found in doorsexx.xwb which is located at: \Steam\steamapps\common\Resident Evil 4\BIO4\snd
Inside the doorsexx.xwb file there are usually two sounds:
00000000.wav (door closing)
00000001.wav (door opening)
(in some cases there are sounds of ladder footsteps in place of doors sounds. Some files contain only one sound file).
Sometimes when we create or edit an AEV doorway event (Type 1) to another room that is not normally travelled to from the room we are editing we will not hear any doorway sounds when going to that room. This is because there is no reference in the DSE file to the room we are going to. To fix this we can edit the file via HEX. (view this file in HEX as 12 wide view for offsets to line up)
Here is an example using r105_26.DSE. In this example there are 2 entries:
02 00 00 00 01 01 00 00 FF FF FF FF
FF FF FF FF 07 01 03 00 FF FF FF FF
FF FF FF FF CD CD CD CD
Bytes Explained:
02 = number of entries
01 01 = room r101 (room that player is moving into)
00 00 = reference to doorse00.xwb file
07 01 = room r107 (room that player is moving into)
03 00 = reference to doorse03.xwb file
Here is another example using r101_31.DSE. In this example there are 4 entries;
04 00 00 00 00 01 00 00 FF FF FF FF
FF FF FF FF 03 01 01 00 FF FF FF FF
FF FF FF FF 05 01 00 00 FF FF FF FF
FF FF FF FF 02 01 02 00 FF FF FF FF
FF FF FF FF CD CD CD CD CD CD CD CD CD CD CD CD
As you can see there are connections to the following rooms:
r100 (Village Beginning)
r102 (Village Underground)
r103 (Village Farm)
r105 (Village Chief's House)
Each of the entries is padded by 8 bytes of (FF) and is 12 bytes in total length. To add a new entry, simply copy and paste and existing one, and update the index value for each new entry you paste.

Just dug up this video from mariokart64n who successfully explains how to add new doorse files.
