Hello all, I am in need of some expert advice!
I've been altering player models in blender using the tutorials for extracting, converting, and editing player models found here. I've edited a couple of models already, and it works fine, but my most recent project has been causing the problem mentioned in the title. Whenever I shoot a zombie, I get a massive FPS drop for a split second, then the framerate returns to normal. With weapons like the SMG or claire's quickdraw revolver hitting even a dead body in full auto causes a slideshow. As soon as I stop firing, and any other time, the framerate is normal (in my limited testing).
No other mod has done this, and the base mod I've based this edit on didn't do it either. Is this a known problem?
Also, and probably importantly, when I use Noesis to convert the .fbx to RE2 mesh.1808312334, it defaults to the RE3 mesh.1902042334 when asking "choose a MESH file to export over". I don't remember it doing this when I exported my other models, but I could be wrong
I know others have encountered this problem and fixed it, but efforts to contact them have been fruitless.
Please help! Thanks

Small update, I figured out why it defaulted to the RE3 .1902042334 extension, it was just a setting in the .py file that I don't think affects anything. I'm leaving the image up in the original post just in case someone notices something wrong with my methodology. Since posting, I've re-exported the original model and did a simple mesh transform - just moved a few faces to make the alteration obvious ingame. I did the rest of the conversion to pl1001.mesh.1808312334 following this guide (which I have been using so far with success): residentevilmodding.boards.net/thread/13501/exporting-custom-models-dmc5-noesis . The same effect is happening in game. Every hit on an enemy generates a massive stutter that dumps the FPS from 130ish to 20ish for a moment before returning to 130ish. Alive or dead doesn't matter. Shooting the wall does not produce the effect. I'm fairly new to modding this game and I'm probably missing something obvious...

Okay, I did some more testing on my other personal mods and it turns out they all do this to some extent. Shooting doesn't always trigger it with the others, but knifing across a zombie's body will cause the FPS dips. Back to the drawing board. Something is wrong with my workflow since other people's mods don't do this...
I also suspect few people are experiencing this (based on the absent feedback), so I'll keep this thread updated with my findings. Once I figure out the solution, I'll be sure to post it, even if it's an obvious noob mistake, which it most likely is

One more update; I took the mod I was altering, converted it to .fbx with noesis, then without touching the file, I converted it back to .mesh.1808312334. Tried it in game, no stuttering. Something I'm doing in Blender is causing this problem. Here is a basic outline of my workflow:
- Open Blender (2.93.1), press A, delete cube, light, and camera. Outliner looks like this:
- File > Import > .fbx > choose my .meshout.fbx from noesis Outliner now looks like this (when expanded):
- Select the LODGroup, switch into edit mode. Perform mesh edits. Outliner looks the same as previous step.
FINISHED EDITING MESH
-Select all items in the outliner under "Root" Like so:
- Convert to .mesh using Noesis, here is the full export log: NOTE: it looks the same as the log when i just converted to .fbx then to .mesh without editing in Blender (as stated above)
- Place mesh into correct folder, install mod, run game. Model looks exactly as it did in blender, and animates perfectly. Attack an enemy, instant slideshow. Stop attacking, framerate back to normal.
This is driving me nuts!

I'm having the same issue! Also using blender. If anyone finds a fix for this please let me know.

Hi s13chuki thx for helping me out on this. You did some great tests which saved me some time. So here I am to hopefully save you and others also some time. The issue is indeed the current blender version which uses fbx version v7.4 - the noesis plugin uses v7.7 though I did not check in detail why and what is causing this issue but it seems to be a chain of things running from blender over Noesis converter to the game. I assume the game is trying to do something on the model which has somehow unexpected data and this requires a memory load process which then causes the hitch / lag. Though this is all unproven assumptions. So I went out and did the fastest thing I could find and bought blendermarket.com/products/better-fbx-importer--exporterThis allows to export fbx v7.7 Now import your .meshout.fbx with this plugin and disable all settings which would alter the data Then, after doing your mods, export with fbx v7.7 (select 2020) and OpenGL orientation (also disable optimizations and stuff which would alter the data) Unrelated to the hitch-issue: I then use the "-flip" command during mesh conversion in Noesis to fix the handedness of the mesh (if normal maps are inverted and glossiness is missing) This results in a file which causes no hitch. So I assume the mods you tested where exported from other 3d packages like Max or Maya with a higher fbx version. Hope this helps. Cheers!

Hey, thanks for this. I found it happens with certain assets, e.g. Claire and Ada's jackets and Claire's military outfit.
My workaround was to do my editing in blender and then use 3DS max to export the final mesh. Seems a shame you have to buy another product just to make this work, although base blender is free so I guess we can't complain too much.

I already solved the problem it was as i suspected it has nothing to do with the fbx version they were just geometry errors
