Hi guys, This is my first mod. I started discussing about it (and the progress I was making) on another thread, but I thought I'd better create a new one so it doesn't get buried away in case other people are interested...
================================== Resident Evil 2 LightsOn Mod - 1.1 ================================== This mod removes the excessive darkness, vignette and blue-ish tint in order to restore the feeling of the original while walking through the RPD building. What's new: 1.1 - Added a key to disable some of the excessive blood and dirt found on some walls, for a cleaner look.-- Keys: Press F5 to toggle Darkness, Vignette, blue tint and sharpness - Mod ON by default Press F6 to toggle Fire (to a certain degree) and Fog - Mod OFF by default Press F7 to toggle Blood and dirt - Mod OFF by default

I love this! Are you manually editing the blood and dirt off the texture file in photoshop or something? Or are the blood an dirt separate files that you're just turning off?

Thank you, I'm glad you enjoy it! I don't manipulate the textures at all, I am only disabling shaders with my mod. Blood and dirt seem to be overlaid in the game by a separate shader, and when you press F7, I am simply turning that shader off.

Very good work! I like the darkness, but this is a good way to experience the game another way. Here's hoping you'll do one for RE3.

Ndesu : Thanks for the appreciation. I have to admit that I haven't yet bought RE3. I have almost no time at all to play games these days, so I figured I can wait a little longer just as well. Even with RE2 Remake (RE2 being my all time favourite game ) I couldn't find the time to play it when it was released, so I had to wait. When I actually had free time, the game was already discounted, so at least I spent less on it (around 20€) I will probably buy RE3 immediately after I finish my currently in-progress RE2 game.
Curiosity tempted me to quickly try the RE3 demo, though. And after playing for 5 minutes, I decided to try to make a mod for it as well, and I played it again with the mod on. So... I do have something for you if you want. The thing is that I don't know if it works on the full game or only the demo. But my wild guess is that it should work. I will try today to gather the files, make a zip and post a first version of the mod here if you are willing to try it.

leon5keneddy: I’d love to try it out, I got plenty of time with all this Corona thing going on. Also, a small question, would it be possible to have a toggle for each of the separate shaders like the lights in one, blue tint, and then the sharpening, as opposed to all 3 under the F5?
As far as RE2 Remake, it really is a great game, definitely one of my favorites of all time.

About RE2, those three things are all in one shader. When I disable it, they all go away. The fire and fog/steam (F6) are in another one, and the blood stains (F7) is in a third one.
Regarding the free time, you get much less time to play RE when you have a toddler around, and it's actually awesome! As for RE3, I just made a zip for you and sent you a link in a private message. Please test it, and tell me if it works on the full game. If it does, that means I should be able to post it on a new thread here and on Nexus. Here are a couple of shots showing the results in the demo: i.imgur.com/e89KYJe.pngPlease don't forget to let me know about it... Does it work? Can you get similar results with it? Does it affect the game in any bad way? All feedback is welcome. Thank you!

Ndesu : Haha... if you did that, it would feel like I have a personal alpha-tester who is very thorough... much more thorough than me, actually! But a couple of minutes of play time is more than enough help for me, just to check if it works and if everything seems ok (if the game is actually playable and enjoyable with the mod on). For comparison, in my latest tests with RE2 LightsOn, I removed the shader which places black bars on the side of the screen during cutscenes (on ultra-wide monitors), but unfortunately it also removes some text and the mouse cursor in the UI, so it can't be used during normal gameplay. I might release it with default being disabled, though, in case someone is interested. Angeles Kennedy : I'm really glad you like it and I'm very impressed that you still use it 3 months after you tested the initial version. Thank you for sharing the images you captured, by the way! They look very nice!

Okay I went and did a playthrough, it works as intended, the effect does carry over if you use the FXAA+TAA option as well. No bugs at all, just a little hard to see at times due to intense brightness, but that isn't really your mod's fault. I'd say it's good for a release.
