Hey there people, I'm posting this as a WIP mod as I don't really have any modding knowledge, (I find it too complex for myself ) but I've worked on the idea for a while, and it would be nice to find people who could support me and help me to develop it into a real thing.
My thoughts:
So the remake soundtrack of RE2 was alright, but you only get to appreciate it in certain points of the game, it lacks this nostalgia and unique feeling the classic soundtrack has, only certain tracks stand out and feel memorable, not to mention some tracks should've been looped and not just played once trough the first time you enter the room, such as the front hall and the save room.
The classic soundtrack DLC is available of course and if pretty great, but then again, playing this way made me feel the soundtrack should've been rearranged in a modern way but without loosing the essence the classic soundtrack had.
I think Resident Evil 1 did a great job on this, it gave the soundtrack a modern and atmospheric style to the music but it still kept the essence of the original.
There are several RE fans and artists who've made outstanding covers of the original score and they have accomplished what I think the RE2 Remake's soundtrack should've been.
So, what's this mod supposed to do?:
The idea is to make game a whole new experience by replacing most of the game's soundtrack (trough the classic soundtrack DLC) by integrating a selection of rearrangements made by several artists (I'll will of course ask for permission to use these tracks and give the respective credits to the owners), the mod would also keep some of the remake and classic soundtrack as well as music from other games in the franchise such as Outbreak and Dark Side Chronicles, a few remake and classic tracks would stay the same way, some others would be modified or appear in different places they did before.
Okay, that sounds interesting... show me:
I've done a little showcase test show what I'm planning.
NOTE: This has not been already integrated in to the game as I'm not skilled in modding at all , what I just did was recording gameplay footage and using a video editor to integrate the music, but it should give a pretty clear idea of the purpose of this overhaul mod. The only way to watch the video is trough this link, as I don't find it convenient to upload it publicly until release.
I'm really looking forward to see if the modding community would like to work on this for me and all the RE fans, or teach me how to do it at least... (with lots and lots of patience). I'd also love to read your thoughts.
