Combination "Frankenstein" Modding Tutorial Example: Tifa Outfit for Sphere Hunter
Intro:
_____I HATE it when dudes post their mod videos on YOUTUBE...and then
don't post CRAP on how to GET those mods. Then you get the comments
section ALL FULL OF COMMENTS LIKE "Hey bro! Where'd you get it!" and
"How did you get it!" and "WHERE'S THE LINK!" Yeah, then the dudes who
post the video don't say a damned thing about HOW TO GET THE MOD FOR
YOURSELF!
_____Jerks. Scumbags. Anus-faced freakazoids! THE ONLY REASON THEY
POST THOSE VIDEOS WITH MODS YOU CAN'T HAVE IS TO TROLL EVERYBODY!
They're all like, "Hurr-hurr! Look what I-I-I'VE GOT...!" Trolls... Friggin' trolls.
Maybe we should burn all their bridges and caves so they won't exist anymore!
_____Well, NO MORE! For those rare few people out there who actually
want the custom mish-mash of mods that I used with the TIFA mod, I'm
gonna tell you how to get it. I WOULD just upload all the gosh-damned
files, but this forum has got rules. Well, okay. I can't post the
EXACT combination of mods. BUT...you can have the
Tifa-Outfit-for-Sphere-Hunter mod this way:
Sections:
I. Gather Some Mods
II. Making Mods Compatible
III. Combining Those Mods for Use In-Game
-----------------------------------------------------------------
I. Scavenger hunt! Gather the necessary mods!
0. You're gonna need the Claire Military DLC for this example.
--Sorry! I tried swapping the Tifa mod to other costumes, but the results?
Yech. What was it that a researcher once said? No such thing as a failed
experiments, only more data? Hey, at least this worked!
1. Download these things:
a. Fluffyquack Mod Manager:
www.nexusmods.com/residentevil22019/mods/119
b. Base Mod: Sphere Hunter
residentevilmodding.boards.net/thread/11137/sphere-hunter-suzi
c. Claire-Tifa Mod
mod.3dmgame.com/mod/150013
d. Long Hair
www.nexusmods.com/residentevil22019/mods/295?tab=files&file_id=1151
Optional White Hair
www.nexusmods.com/residentevil22019/mods/295?tab=files&file_id=1129
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
II. Mod some mods to make them compatible!
Great! Now that you've got all the body parts for your creation, do this:
0. Install Fluffyquack's Mod Manager in the RE2 directory. Then tell the tool where your
RE2 files are...so it can mod 'em. You'll figure it out!
1. Unpack each mod archive into a separate file.
2. Compatibility! Delete the face and hair files from the Claire-Tifa Mod. How?
--In the the Claire-Tifa Mod NATIVES folder... Do a wildcard search for these files:
*hair*
*face*
You should now see just the files for...well, face and hair.
3. Select those face and hair files, all the files with "face" and "hair"
in their names. Then hit "delete" on your keyboard. See? Gone!
--You have now removed the face and hair files. Meaning, you
now have JUST THE OUTFIT OF THE MOD! Hah!
Note: You have to do this 'cause the dude who made the Tifa mod slapped
on Default Claire's face and hair. We don't WANT Claire's default face and hair.
So now we've just got the body! Makes us sound all creepy, just usin' human body
parts for our experiments and what-not, but whatever! Welcome to the Umbrella
Corporation!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
III. Combining Those Mods for Use In-Game
Now it's time for the Frankenstein process!
1. Copy your MODIFIED Claire-Tifa NATIVES folder to the NATIVES folder in the
Sphere Hunter folder. Overwrite.
2. Copy the NATIVES folder from the CLAIRE NEW LOOK (HALF BACK) to the Sphere Hunter folder.
(This is for the hair). Overwrite.
3. Open the "modinfo.ini" in the Sphere Hunter NATIVES folder and add
descriptions to the appropriate spots. Or just add on to the name with
your name! Call it "My Mod" or whatever. Save!
4. Now put them in Fluffy's Manager! Add your modified SPHERE HUNTER
folder to the appropriate RE2 mods folder in the Fluffyquack Mod Manager
directories. (Huh?) Just put your modified Sphere Hunter stuff where you
put all your RE2 mods!
To quote What's-Her-Name from Mass Effect 3: "Put more of the stuff in the thing
more stuff goes in."
5. Open the Fluffyquack Mod Manager. If you put your file in the right spot, you
SHOULD see the mod with YOUR description.
--ACTIVATE YOUR MOD!
6. In the game, select the MILITARY outfit. It SHOULD work.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Extra Note: Hey! Guess what! Now that you've done one combination Frankenstein
mod, you can try this with OTHER costumes! Just make sure that all the mod
ingredients are connected to the same costume. Example, the Tifa mod is just aimed
at the Military outfit slot in the game. It WON'T work with mods aimed at the
default (yech) costumes. To do THAT? You'll have to learn how to model-swap, but
that is a story for another day. Hah, kidding. Somebody else has already done that tutorial.
Extra EXTRA Note: Know what else? The combination of mods doesn't just work with
costumes. You can EVEN ADD COMBINATIONS OF YOUR FAVORITE WEAPONS MODS!
In the video below, you can see an arsenal of awesome weapons courtesy of our
very own master-modder JTeghius Kittius! Know what? I didn't individually turn on all
those mods before starting the vid. I just dropped all the files into ONE FOLDER for
ONE combo mod. Then, every single time I want THAT particular combination of mods?
One click in Fluffyquack's Manager is all it takes! Fluffyquack's Mod Manager(tm): Making
modding life easier...
Now go forth! Experiment! See what mods you can put together at the same time!
Again! Remember the words of some geek scientist:
"There is no such thing as a failed experiment, only more data."
Works for me! See ya!
