Nice work alpha Just thought I'd let you know that the download here link is with the wrong URL, it keeps linking to the same forum post, so version 1.37a is not downloadable only 1.37

RE Engine MESH Tool v1.38 [Download Here]HOTFIX: Fixed a problem where it was importing the wrong material names; re-download the script if you downloaded it within 3 hours of it first being posted - Bone numbers are no longer required. The tool will automatically match bones to the model being exported over by their names, even between models with different skeletons
- The tool will automatically try to fix broken UVs on export, or will abort the export if it would be saved with scrambled UVs
- Materials can now be changed more easily from Object Properties -> User Defined, and are written as names rather than indexes
- "Flipped Handedness" renamed to "DirectX (Flipped) Handedness"
- "Add Bone" renamed to "Activate Bone"
- Small performance updates
- Fix for broken weight import in 3dsmax 2016
This version has had a significant update to how the tool indexes bones. Now it will gather all the ones from the Skin modifier and make a list in the same order as the bone numbers (without actually needing any bone numbers), and will associate that order with their names. When writing to the file, it will compare those indexes-associated-with-names with those of the bones in the file, for weights every vertex. This allows the tool to match any same-named up to the model being exported over no matter the skeletons involved, as long as some bone names are shared. It is like using Skin Utilities "Match By Name" on every export. If any weights from your model in your 3dsmax scene do not match bones in the file being exported over, they will have their weights assigned to the last bone successfully matched on that vertex. Credit to mariokart64n for originally creating the method to index the bones by their true order instead of alphabetically.
In addition, the tool will now automatically fix UV errors caused by deleting vertices. It will add a new Unwrap_UVW modifier to each channel that has been broken by the vertex deletion, which will update the UV counts to match the vertex counts. Using Unwrap_UVW in this way will also fix normals that are broken by deleting verts. If the problem was caused by merging verts or converting to/from Editable Poly (which breaks some modded meshes) and the mesh cannot be exported without scrambled or broken UVs, it will abort the export and inform the user to re-import the mesh.
You can change a submesh's material by changing its Material name here, in Object Properties -> User Defined:

Does this script support Resident Evil 7? I know there's already a script for that game's Mesh files but I'm wondering if this one also supports Resident Evil 7.

it works in Noesis, I will try to fix it for MHRise in the Maxscript next update Does this script support Resident Evil 7? I know there's already a script for that game's Mesh files but I'm wondering if this one also supports Resident Evil 7. No, only the RE7 mesh tool can import+export RE7 meshes (and RE7 Noesis plugin can only import them)
