So here's the story: I'm making an RE4 escape room for my buddy's bachelor party. This involves directly "ripping" some of the game's puzzles and making them in the real world for him to solve. For example: my brother is recreating the "security lab" arrow puzzle as a program that can be run on a touchscreen tablet. It's all very exciting, but without the actual in-game HD assets or sound effects, the effect would be lost--maybe entirely. I was hoping this modding community could help me.
This is probably a basic modding technique, but I've never gotten into modding before. In digging around here, I've found several really interesting tools--particularly those made by Son of Persia. I used one of his tools to extract the model textures, but... I'm not really needing player/mob textures. I'm looking specifically for the Security Lab puzzle texture (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sbraic9Hlpo) and the Ashley slide puzzle textures (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UiC-8AVjvZw). Could anyone guide me through extracting textures for game objects--not necessarily player models?
I'd also like to figure out how to extract the wav files. I would assume this would use Son of Persia's FSE-ESE tool, but I'm not sure where to run that within the game file structure.
Thanks to any that can help me!

I think they are in r307. you will need to unpack the pack files for the room located in BIO4\ImagepckHD directory.
I think its 44000307.pack for the lab with those textures.
I suggest you get the HD versions from the RE4 HD project. Use the YZ2 tool to unpack.
Happy modding !

Thank you! I feel like that got me really close. I've unpacked the files in the lab, and like you said, R307 is the lab. However, the elements for UI on the security lock puzzle aren't there. Is there a different section for puzzle UIs like this? Maybe a place where player-interactive menus are kept?

I will have a look later tonight… It is very possible that these elements are actually 3-D models that are in the EFF file

ok so my suspicion was partially correct. There is an effect that is used to illuminate those arrow textures that we see in 44000307.pack (see 0085.tga and 0086.tga). There is a model in the SMD file for the panel stand itself, but the illuminated panel (the blinking arrows) are controlled by scripts that link to the EFF file. That's all I could come up with.
also, for your second request about the Ashley puzzle. That texture can be found in 4400020e.pack. The file is 0118.dds
Let me know if you need any more help. Be sure to show us pictures or videos of what you come up with!
Happy Modding! Building!

Thank you! That's very helpful! I'll definitely come back with updates. For now, here's the "Sample" my wife made. This is the end goal for the escape room. RE4 Sample imgur.com/gallery/b0klmmzHere's the lab Security Puzzle in its current state. imgur.com/gallery/zryyxAJI appreciate all of your help, Mr. Curious. It's been a big help in making this escape room feel that much more RE. Modding is not my forte and I'm amazed at what you all are able to accomplish. Just ripping these textures has helped me appreciate how much work goes into even a simple mod.

Here's the Puzzle Box from REmake. One of the groomsmen used a laser to cut the octagon and puzzle pieces out. Then I stained the wood and glued the images on. imgur.com/gallery/cuQnlUA

Hey, just wanted to say thanks to all who helped me with this. We finished the project on time and it all came together really well. We set up old security cameras and watched him complete the room. As he solved puzzles, we used a projector to send him a codes to unlock chests throughout the room. We extracted all of the video files and made a silly little video of him solving the puzzles. Here's the link if you're interested in seeing it. It gets a little slow in parts, but I wanted to share since you guys helped make this happen.
Once again: thank you so much!
