I've had issues accepting the more recent Claire designs, not only in RE2 Remake but also in RE:Revelations 2. Code: Veronica was the first RE I've ever played and I absolutely adore the way she looks in that game. I remember when I first saw Claire in Darkside Chronicles and i instantly fell in love with her more updated look that still retained that original design and everything.
When a character changes, whether it's their personality or their looks, it always sparks some controversy. There's always gonna be people who love it, people who hate it, and people who are on the fence, that are OK with it... But wish it was a little bit better.... And that's how I feel about new Claire. I think it's Ok, but it could be better

I think she looks great in this screenshot:
To me personally, she's absolutely perfect here in this cutscene. Simply flawless, I think it fits the atmosphere and the aesthetic of the game perfectly, more so than the old design ever could. If she looked this good in-game and during other cutscenes, I think this would easily become my favorite design ever.
But not too long after this, there's this cutscene:
Now, I don't think she looks nearly as good here. Something about her expression, her eyes, I think it looks somewhat unnatural. And that's when I get that feeling like "Wow... Her classic design was so much better". I still don't feel comfortable saying she's "ugly" though, because I like how she looks in that first scene (and other scenes as well of course, just using the first screenshot as an example).
Honestly I think the developers just didn't put in as much work to Claire's facial expressions to make sure it looks good from a variety of angles and different lighting. I don't know, something's just... off... It doesn't even look like they used the same character model lol That's just how I feel about it though, I'm sure there are those who disagree and that's fine
I think Leon looks great, Marvin, Chief Irons, Sherry, Ada, Elliot, Ben, Anette, they all look great! Even the side characters that just die moments before you meet them look great! lol But I don't know... I just feel like something is missing with Claire, maybe it's because she's one of my favorite characters and, as a fan of her, I wanted her to look as good as possible and I feel she wasn't given as much attention as the other characters and... Yeah, that's a little bit upsetting.
I don't think I would've cared as much if some of these other characters I mentioned looked a little weird in some way lol But the fans of those other characters certainly would care and they'd make a thread just like this one to complain about it
That's just how we fans are. We get upset and we complain because we care.
I've gotten used to it though, and I actually appreciate the new designs now much more than I initially did, I hated them at first but I'm learning to like them.
I think she looks beautiful for the most part in the remake, there are just a few scenes like this where I think she looks.... Unpolished - Yeah, that's the word I was looking for xD.
There are mods being worked on by very talented people to "fix" her face, we have an example right here:

The makeup is a subtle change, but a very effective one. Something so simple that, to me at least, already makes her much much prettier.
Seeing that people are dedicated to making the character look even better, regardless if they already love the new design or not, is something that makes me really happy.
