Hi Everyone.
Sorry for the extreme noobishness. - I was walking around in the Modding Tutorials hoping to find a good place to start self learning, but there seems to be no indicator as to where is a good start - plus there are some confusing "starting points."
For instance:
Long story short, I just want to ask, which threads do you guys recommend I look at first, and in which order if there is any? I mean before I look in other the other topic boards, I guess I should stay here in the tutorials area...
Thanks
J

J Hello friend, I am more or less the same as you. I'm trying to learn to modify the mapping to be able to make new roads that are currently blocked by barricades etc. I would love to know how to change the barricades or at least start by removing the collision, but there is nobody to explain how to do this. Even that in fact there is a person who did it but does not respond

HOPEFULLY, some kind soul that is willing to teach via Skype/Team Viewer is reading this thread. I too need some help learning how to make mods. I want to make clothing mods and nothing else.
My first question is: Do I need Photoshop or can I use Paint.net, which is what I currently use?
Oh, and why do I consist on using Skype and Team viewer? Well, I can watch a you Tube video, but that's not my learning style. I need someone to give me "Over the shoulder instruction", I hope that explains my situation.
Thanks ahead of time to that person---whomever he/she turns out to be and please know that I will be one very happy and productive student!

If I had the ability, I would have been more than willing to either Skype or Team Viewer, but I'm completely new to this engine as well. 2. From what I could gather from the other topics, the textures are stored in ".dds" formats that can be opened in both Photoshop and Paint.NET. There may be a certain thing that the engine requires tags. I'm not sure, I haven't even started my mod yet.

Hey thanks so much for getting back to me! No, it's not quite the answer that I was looking for, but at least SOMEBODY has finally reached out to me. Good luck with your endeavors, and maybe we can learn together!

Most people may have Photoshop already so they would just use it. But you will still need something for the meshes. Hope that clarified it a bit.

Even that in fact there is a person who did it but does not respond I think the absolute easiest way would be to open the world in a level editor and actually remove the barricades that you desire. As I stated with the user below your post, I haven't started modding yet. I will look into it when I go to do my mod and let you know.
