Hi everyone, I'm way more experienced in installing mods than making them, but in exploring re4 modding I found an awesome mod for the 2007 release that replaces the ADA model in separate ways with Mileena from MK9 (even replaces voice and all) I would love to have it on the UHD version so I decided to try my hand at importing the model at least. I downloaded the import pack Uploaded by Son of Persia and tried my best to follow instructions but I'm stuck/confused at an early stage.
While I was able to identify that pl16.udas.lfs is the ADA model used in Separate ways. I extracted it but and have the bin and tpl files but could find which bin goes with which TPL. I opened everything with notepad ++ in hex mode but couldn't find a match (can't tell if I'm looking at the wrong value) so I decided I'll just pair up all the bins with the tpl 1 by 1 until it results in a working smd model. Unfortunately every tps i tried pairing with pl16_000.bin gave me an error message when trying to view the model.
so in short it would be helpful if someone could tell me what I'm doing wrong or if anyone happens to know that tps goes with what bin for pl16 that would be very helpful. Please bear with me if I'm doing something nooby as this is technically my first mod ^^;
I don't want to be a douche and pass this off to someone else but if someone wants to take this project out of my hands I'm happy to link the mileena mod for anyone who wants to take a full crack at it and import the whole thing, not just the model.

Screenshot of the mod for the curious Like I said, my main concern is importing the model, the original mod does also change the voice and I don't care about the inventory image. it's pretty eye straining tbh

I have never modified pl16 yet, but do know a few things. Which model are you trying to replace? D0 you just want this model for pl16 or to swap out with another model?
also question about your files: is there a TPL 001 there? If so, thats the one you want.. Also, remember, you have to remember to change the skeleton first if you are importing from PMD files.

Thank you so much for the reply. The mod originally replaced the Ada model used for separate ways so the folder of the mod has PL16. it also has a PL0b folder which according to JTeghius Kittius's LFS list is seperate way ada and (possibly) mercenary ada respectively.
the pl16 for UHD DOES have a TPL 001. If that's the tpl that goes with the 000 bin then I'll use the SMD made from those 2.
and I'm aware that I have to change the skeleton, if I'm not mistaken, according to the instructions that's the next step after creating the SMD

Well I made the SMD file using the 000 bin and 001 tps but something just occurred to me, when dragging the smd's that I ended up making, I noticed that the different bins were for different body parts, does this mean I'm going to have to do this process over and over with corresponding model parts?
I ask this because in checking the mod's pmd files there's quite a few and when viewing the model after extracting a couple the first few ones were for hair, face and stuff. the instructions don't elaborate on this at all

Usually the only thing I ever changed was bin 000 and TPL 001 and then placed them in the original UDAS, leaving all the other BIN TPL alone, but sometimes you need to replace the other BIN TPL files with empty BIN/TPL files to get rid of the original parts. AN example of this is that if your model that you are importing (2007 version) comes with a head, you will need to replace the head of the original Ada BIN TPL files for the head with empty BIN/TPL files. This goes for other things your new model already has, like hair as well etc. DO not worry about the weapons. Leave those alone. You are basically going to just make a body with a head and replace that.
As for hands, I usually leave those alone and simply remove the hands from the imported model. Other wise if you want to use the hands of the 2007 version, you will have to go and replace all of those with your new hands in different positions.. Lots of work for the hands, that's why I never make my own hands. I just import my BIN 000 TPL 001s with no ha

Well that's good to know. Once i learn how to do one part it should be a simple repeating process after that. ^^
PROGRESS UPDATE
Ok, found mileena's body tmp, turned it into an smd and switched the skeletons. HUZAAH!
then Persia's read me only says to convert the changed smd file to a RE4 UHD model. I assume he means to turn the new SMD back into a USAD or pack into .bin and .tpl THEN to a USAD but leaves no instruction how to do so. -_-

Its hard to say what you need to do without knowing which stage you are at. What I have done in the past when I needed help was to explain every step I took to make sure that the people reading my help request knew everything that I had done already. This ensures proper procedure is followed. It sounds like to me you have already converted your PMD, changed the skeleton, and extracted your BIN/TPL files. If this is right, then all you need to do is edit your model in 3D app like Milkshape3D/Blender/3DsMax etc, and map the textures to your model. You then export your final model in SMD format. Did you see THIS post about the importer instructions? Please let us know which stage you are at, and if you have done everything as required in the instructions. Cheers
