So I see triggering is happening on my other negative Capcom thread but I expected the Capcom fan boys to shit on that.
Moving on to the other one I was going to make now. Pardon my spell check is not always perfect but you can understand
what I'm saying right? So...
It seems to be popular to condemn Capcom these days & as I stated in my pimp thread there are reasons why, but here
are some things I like about their Resident Evil franchise. Oh & I am only listing the games I personally own, there are quite a
few I have never even tried at all.
1996 Resident Evil 1 was released on PlayStation 1
Though the graphics have aged horribly, but at that time I had never seen a game like it. It was amazing. The atmosphere was
very powerful. The music incredible & yes at that time the graphics too were amazing. Addictive & I played this game recently
in 2016. When I started I realised I had no idea what to do first. I forgotten a lot of patterns of play, then I opened up my
inventory & a big grin appeared on my face. I had an infinite rocket launcher. I keep my old saves & forgot about this one.
With that weapon I just explored at my leisure & just enjoyed the entire game without struggles. That was ok as I didn't want
to struggle & it was fun.
My verdict 10/10
1998 Resident Evil 2 was released on the PlayStation 1
Everything was improved here. It was a 2 disk game that I did not expect. Internet was not then what it is today. This meant
a lot less hype & spoilers before the game release. When this game starts you can choose one of two characters, two different
perspectives are revealed. Music great again, the graphics more detailed & varied & the goriest version yet I think. The
atmosphere again pulled me in & demanded I stay until the game was finished. Then try the other character. This game was
very much bigger than the last & started to show a bigger more open world. It does take a lot longer to get through but it was
different & entertaining enough to enjoy both characters.
My verdict 10/10
1999 Resident Evil 3 Nemesis was released on the PlayStation 1
They did it again three in a row! This game was much smaller than the last one. Once again improved graphics are on display.
Music throughout was awesome again. The gameplay was offering better control with a new ammo crafting system. It was again
an incredible atmosphere that pulled me in. Then there was that Nemesis beast! Busting through walls & chasing Jill throughout
the entire game made a slightly different game this time but not in a bad way. This put legit scares into this game for me.
Capcom are on a roll! I didn't mind the shorter game at all as there was plenty of replay value. At this point I am loving this
franchise.
My verdict 10/10
2002 Resident Evil 1 Remake was released exclusively on the Nintendo Game Cube
So things start to change from here on out & not all in positive ways. This game being an exclusive only pissed me off. I bought
a Nintendo Game Cube just for this game experience. I loved the original & at this time I remember I was still buying game
magazines for information lol. I saw images of this game & that was that. It has been 3 long years since my last experience
in this franchise. The graphics still look good to this day. The Nintendo Game Cube had very few games worth owning but this
was a must have. The music was also completely redone. The gameplay felt like the original but the controls were better.
Everything I remembered from the original was still here but with new areas & enemies it felt new at the same time.
This is what you call a remake. This is how you do it! Capcom done it again! Four in a row ! There was again plenty of replay
value. It was made to be bigger than the original. This was a very rare moment when Capcom showed how to do a remake but
they never showed this kind of remake again. Not yet anyway..
My verdict 10/10
2002 Resident Evil Zero was released exclusively on the Nintendo Game Cube
Ok later the same year this game turns up out of the blue. With the all new graphics Capcom start showing off their franchise
to fans who purchased the Game Cube. The exclusive thing still stinks because I knew people wanted this game & were going
to miss out because of corporate scum bags. Well the game itself was very good, the graphics were a new standard for me
& I loved them. The music again was brilliant, the game play was a little slow moving but apart from that it was a typical
Resident Evil game. For the first time you get to control two characters & are able to switch between them with ease. It took
a little getting used to. A very large game with lots of new enemies, weapons & areas. It was great to see Rebecca in this new
game but some how I didn't like the villain of this game much. Capcom did it AGAIN ! Five in a row!
My verdict 9/10
2005 Resident Evil 4 was the final exclusive from this franchise on the Nintendo Game Cube
So this game is a complete transformation from anything I have played before. To this day it remains one of my favourite games
ever. The graphics on the new machine were at that time very impressive to me. The music again was great. That atmosphere
just pulled me in to this world again. The biggest transformation though was the gameplay. The controls had changed & this is
my first third person game view. It felt impressive from start to finish, the story & characters were entertaining but the violence
by this point was little strange. In some ways it was less gory, because enemies no longer fell apart as much but then I got
attacked by the chainsaw. o.O
This game had lots of replay value. There was a kind of an early attempt at a mercenary type of game in Resident Evil 3 but in 4
we see a proper mercenary game for the first time. This was a new direction as this game starts to become more about action
than slow exploration. Six in a row!
My verdict 10/10
2007 Resident Evil 4 was released on p.c Ubisoft version
So almost no difference from the Nintendo Game Cube version except with worse graphics. I have just started pc gaming by
this point & realised eventually about the internet. Yes it took me this long. The p.c version offered a graphics patch at the
Ubisoft website for this game which to be fair did improve things some what. By this point Capcom have been spoiling fans
with excellent games, each better than the last. Graphics got better as time went along but not with this game & all its various
ports since this one. It was around this time I discovered this website. I learned some small modding skills which I used to
enhance my p.c game massively. The other much more advanced modders that have ventured through here have helped fans to
transform the p.c Ubisoft game into something very special. I have never been so immersed into a game as much as
this one due to this modding community, except for maybe Skyrim. This was my first modding experience right here in
this nut house.
I do still enjoy this version the most but yeah I made another negative Capcom thread just about their
treatment of this game. I know fan boys gonna fan boy but I am not one of those people. Check out the other thread for my
humorous take on that situation but try not to get too triggered. This game remains my most played game of the entire
franchise but only because of modding. With out mods this was & will always be a half assed cash grab. The first of many
more...2016 they are still porting this with little or no updates.
My verdict 2/10 (without mods)
2009 Resident Evil 5 was released on the xbox 360
So here is a completely brand new system with all new amazing graphics capability. Resident Evil has never looked so good!
Chris Redfield is back! He has a beautiful new side kick Sheva Alomar. I see almost the Resident Evil Zero partners gameplay
style returning. Every thing is faster now. The music is awesome as usual & the graphics are the best yet. The atmosphere
has changed now since this game starts of out doors in large areas where you can explore with fast action with enemy
encounters. The first time i entered the public assembly area & everyone attacked! New stories to follow, new characters
with more focus on action. I loved this game but even I noticed the franchise was slipping away from where it started in terms of horror. There was the Capcom I loved though! This was a new game with old characters & despite the new direction this was fun!
There were some scares along the way & this game got mods in later releases on steam. I still have this game & it is still good fun!
Capcom did it again in my opinion, I did miss the haunted atmosphere of the old games but I didn't dislike this game at all.
My verdict 9/10
2012 Resident Evil 6 was released on the xbox 360
Ok the final game I got was pretty good. Amazing graphics, music was as always brilliant, gameplay controls are very good.
New attacks just like from the last game but better. The attacks are so good I really miss these melee options when I go back
to the older games. Lots of replay value with various game modes. The mercenaries mode from 4 & 5 have become part of the
attraction by now & it doesn't disappoint here either. The story is very large & there are three plots to follow, the gameplay
areas are massive! Capcom went all out on this one! Lots of new enemies & weapons here. Just like Zero I didn't like the villain
here. Simmons. What ever his name was. I am now replaying this game from scratch so there is quite a bit I have forgotten
but I remember him. He annoyed me every time he showed up. Mostly though this game has more characters to enjoy than
ever before & I did like it a lot. I suppose there is no going back to the old game style from the PlayStation era but how would
that even work now with all of todays expectations from games. Bottom line with this game is I enjoyed it. Am enjoying it
again atm in fact. It was too over the top in places but overall Capcom did it again. They released a game that was amazing
& I still play.
My vedict 9/10
What this company does next is any ones guess. Resident Evil 7 is looming & once gain Capcom is teasing new experiences.
Technology has changed once again as well & that alone will bring different experiences to this franchises latest instalment.
The graphics this company uses just get better for the most part & giving us all six amazing memorable games in this franchise
alone. There are even more but I never played Survivor & never had my own Code Veronica either. I have seen most of that
game though & liked it. There are a few I just never played at all. This series has been very consistent i think Capcom has
made great games here. I learned modding because of this franchise & am looking forward to learning more. The upside does
make me wait to see their next game before condemning them like so many others are. Yes they have made some very
shitty decisions there's no doubt but I am willing to give them the benefit of the doubt right now because with this franchise
they have been on an unbelievable roll. No one can deny that much. Good luck to Capcom I say, I think they may need it.
How long can they really keep this high standard up?
