So as I was doing some research on Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City deciding whether to actually play it or not I stumbled across this interesting fact Crispin Jettingham, the leader of the U.S. special Forces team of Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City, is gay says writer and creative director Adam Bullied. "I know," he tells us, "because I created him." he also goes to say "I wanted him to be a strong, smart, decisive, precise soldier who was polite, funny, and and genuinely liked and admired by the people around him. And was also gay." You can read more about it here Dee-Ay (Don't Ask Don't Tell)

Wow. Can you believe I didn't know that? And I called my self RE #1 fan... Shame on me...
It's always cool to see gay, lesbian characters in game. Maybe it could in some way raise awareness for LGBT community? I don't know.

Well seeing as they never mentioned it in the game and that the game itself didn't do so good I can understand how no one knew about it. But I'd definitely want to see some openly gay characters in future video games especially RE games.

LOL it is not THAT shocking about DA ... it was pretty obvious :v
one can "smell" those things XD
But seriously guys... what is it whit the "NEED" of gay characters coming to RE universe? as a bisexual dude I could care LESS about those kinds of things in RE universe. RE is already a little too complicated to this point to add more drama to it XD
If they do that in some future it probably will end up being just a cameo of some random dude or girl like Sheva, Jessica, Quint, Keith, O´brian, Rachel, Raymond, Piers, Billy were.
so MEEEH
let´s leave that to other games like skyrim, mass effect, etc kind of games.

in general in gaming lesbian, bi, transgender and gay characters are underrepresented. as some people know i study gamedesign and we had a lecture about this topic and also on race diversion. and the most common for main and support characters are white and straight males. followed by white straight females. i think if i remember correctly the percentages of L.B.T.G. characters was a patheticly low 1-3% or something? which in my opinion is just rediculous. i'll see if i can find the statistics again. but can't promise that i can... Edit couldn't find the stats for sexuality of character in games :/ only found the gender/race thing:

That's kind of cool, over the years i've become a little afraid of media (TV,Film,Games etc) having GLBT characters because they are so cookie cutter, outside of the bisexual Kaidan from ME3 I haven't seen a single GLBT character that wasn't presented as being promiscuous. It's as if none of us actually want a relationship or have different and varied views of sex, nope, we all just spread legs. Dragon Age Inquisition being a rather annoying recent case, going so far as to cut both Bisexual Cullen and Solas from the game. I'm 21 and still a virgin, something the media doesn't think exists I must be some kind of paradox to them. I think it's because they focus too much on the character being so like gay like guys like omg so gay rather than just a regular human being. If they do have openly gay characters in future RE games i'd also like them to not die in their first appearance because that's another annoying issue. Characters such as Crispin where the focus isn't on their sexuality tend to end up being better representation...Got a tad ranty here but it's something that I feel strongly about and it raises my hackles.
So yeah, Crispin being gay is awesome, guess I know who i'll be playing as forever in ORC.

I think it comes down to people feeling included as well as good will from the company (any company). Having an GLBT character is like a message from them letting people know they accept others which apart from being a generally positive message can in some cases help people feel more comfortable with who they are, gaming is a huge part of my life and I came out at the age of 19 and it was the increase in openly gay and bi characters in the games I was playing that helped me feel better about myself. Having GLBT characters can also translate into profits, I own some games like Fable which I never would have purchased, but I ended up buying it because of the same sex marriage. So maybe there are some people out there who don't have Resident Evil on their radar, find out it has a gay character in it and then might decide to buy it. I know finding out that Crispin was gay has made me start up another playthrough of Operation Raccoon City. I also personally think that in a world where some people still have...'trouble' accepting gays, lesbians, bisexuals and trans people, that having such characters just kind of lets them know their anti-everything attitude won't get them anywhere. Thankfully I live in the north east of England and people are generally very positive and accepting. Of course I say all this, I by no means demand Capcom include GLBT characters, i'm not like some people *cough* Tumblr *cough*. It's Capcom's series and they can do as they wish with it, so long is it keeps going in the scary, less shooty direction of Revelations (and hopefully Revelations 2). I just think it'd be nice if they did have such characters is all. Thank f*ck this site doesn't have a word cap, I don't know how to do short comments.

If people have trouble "finding them self " is their own issue (no offence intended) and there are better ways to help people out whit that I personally have always known who I am and I don´t care what people thinks or says.
RE is not meant to do that. (like I said before, the story is already ridiculously complicated) let other games try that.
What I demand Is a good, well made game, that is worth paying for and makes me chills.
Crispin is gay hurray... let´s move on
