I tried to add those model swaps, and although it worked once (Ada), the game crashed for the Spec Ops DLC -- what are the steps to install the mods and what version of the game does one need for them to work?
Also, does anyone know of a camera FOV mod that allows for the camera to be moved back a tad...? I'm certain there was such mod, as I think I may have even used it myself a few years back. But since, I cannot find any trace of it... =/
EDIT: The model swaps do work now... after re-installing the game! lol

Hey guys!! how do you change character portraits in RE:ORC? like say, i want to swap Vector's character portrait to HUNK, anyone care to explain how? Any answer or information would be much appreciated
ok so i did some fooling around with the specops.ssg file and swapped the specops4.edgemodel with the specops.edgemodel since the specops.edgemodel is just a combination of all of them and i get this wierd thing with the model ill upload a picture when i get the chance but the chest attachments like the pouches are all messed up they dont have shaders and they've got the skin color on them to and the head is also affected. thats not really the main issue though i can deal with that. What i cant deal with is his fucked up face during cutscenes his face looks so fucking creepy the model i mean. when swtor is finished updating ill start the game and post screenshots. i might be able to fix the texture/shader issue if i fool around but im not even sure theres a way to fix the face issue heres the first screenshot ill upload a cutscene one when i get a chance. cutscene pics at bottom and also does anyone know if there is a way to make the camera farther back from the player cuz its way to close for me?
i dunno about editing the textures since if u change one color (the vest having the skin color which u may change to black for ex.) u might find that someone's skin tone becomes the color u edited the vest (lupo's face could turn black for ex.) it won't be hard to fix if u know what ur doing but it definitely will become annoying, im just guessing since something like this happened before too. for the face i can't help u 100% but i can tell u this: ex. if u swap bertha for ada without the voice files, bertha(ada) will talk in a cutscene which screw up the face since ada's animations r not meant that way. but if u change the voice files to ada's voice, she'll stay shut in cutscenes which will keep bertha's face(ada) normal. u can try switching someone's voice files to keep his mouth shut to prevent the horror movie face, this is just something i noticed while swapping. and i have no idea about the FOV, i was trying to see if globaltweaks had the option but no luck.
this is the edited version so yours will look different but if you look at lines 1 and 2 in the csv it should say walk and sprint. on these 2 lines where it says standard far in this post it should say standard on the original. simply copy the standard far and paste it into the slots where it says standard. in fact you might be able to just copy what i put up straight into your csv file and bam. after your done with that save it, then right click on the icon and check read only. i don't think you have to do this but just to be on the safe side.
Next comes a bit trickier part you will need a hex editor but don't need any knowledge of the numbers part i use hxd mh-nexus.de/en/hxd/
open it up in the hex editor. also i forgot to mention this most likely when you double click it will give you the option to search online or select a program click select program then navigate to where the install folder is and click the exe.
ok now for the hex editor. in the main raccoon city folder you will see a file called csv_game.ssg open that up with hxd or whatever you use then hit Ctrl+f and type in camera it should take you to camera.csv allso you have to do is simply change one of the letters in camera like i did camexa.csv then save and right click go to properties and check read only then apply. i litterally just figured it out before posting this so not sure about everything but the only thing so far is that the character takes up the space of the crosshair when your not aiming its not a problem for me but then again i play on casual when i can post a picture i will but the character is basically centered and the whole body is in view this works for sprinting and walking. if you want to change the cover ladder etc just do the same thing copy and paste standard far
i hope this is easy to understand sorry but i havent written many tutorials

Hey jojo55, this is Jod (been forever since I have posted on this forum)
My understanding, is that if you are playing the game with this mod, the voices will not work during the cinematics because they are attached to the original characters.
So (for example) if you have everyone as classic hero character except Vector, Only Vector will still say his lines in addition to other characters that your characters interact with during the game (i.e. Hunk, Nicholai, Jill,Carlos, Claire, Leon, Sherry).
Now the classic characters will have all their individual sounds (like when they get hurt or attack) but again if you are not using the original character during the game, your character (and all other swapped characters) will be silent during the cinematics. A solution for using the mod as it currently is, if you want to know what is being said, is to turn on subtitles while playing the game.
Any other method, would require some further manipulation of the game files (as is, this mod provides just a character swap), not sure if you will find anyone here who would be willing to spend the time trying to figure out how to actually replace the original cast and make the game think the heroes are the default cast members. It seems people are still interested in ORC. (myself included...)
I got the game working on Win10 today, back to working on the "JTeghius Difficulty" mode for the game I reworked chapter 3 today. it's definitely harder than originally, but it's nowhere near the difficulty level of my chapter 7 difficulty mod that I released way back.

Suggestion: Somebody mod in a Instant Action mode.....and/or a way to add bots online in the multiplayer mode.
I love this game (Don't care for campaign but multiplayer was always a blast on my 360).....I'm not sure people are playing it on PC so I haven't bought it yet with that fear in mind. But if I can play with my friend and bots??? it's over

g: The gasmask seems like a kind of weird cross between different types of 3M full-face respirators usually used by contractors working around heavy asbestos and mold(go figure). But don't expect to find a perfect replica, most gasmasks in RE aren't real.

g: you gotta learn how to extract the game files and convert them so that you can modify textures in .dds form in a program like photoshop, then repack em in basically. that's the basics of it

g: when it comes to texture editing yeah you basically are just editing images, including normal maps and specular maps. sometimes you can just edit the entire model to have a certain color shade and high gloss like what you did but that's not quite textures
