So from the article, we can glean the following, 1) that the game will be narrowly focused on a modified single player story campaign in the same vein as the original, just like how they treated the Resident Evil 2 Remake (being more of a re imagining of the original story) and it will include some new story elements (like the RE2 Orphanage) that where not in the original. 2) just the one possible story, with no alternate endings and no returning alternate game modes that where in the original. 3) So far we have one new game mode Resident Evil Resistance in addition to the single player story campaign, and it is a substitute for the original Mercenaries mode and it brings back a form of multiplayer to the series (not seen since Resident Evil 6), in the 4 vs 1 format... 4) a. Still no information on if there will be any alternate costumes outside of the pre-order (classic inspired re3 Jill outfit and classic inspired re3 Carlos face),
b. we still don't know exactly how they will handle the classic RE3 soundtrack/ menu (hopefully they keep this as a option like re2), and
c. lastly we don't know if there will be any other new game modes that will added for further replay value...
side note: it is interesting, that they are 3d scanning actors in costume, and any and all real world items to help the game look as realistic as possible.

Claire, curious, can you point me to that info about Resistance single player? ...thought they only meant just the single player re3 campaign.

Resistance has a single player mode. Just a reminder for people saying EXACTLY stuff along this line. That is unless this is to say that if you're not into having people AROUND and assisting you in such scenarios, I'm not sure if the single player mode let you run in alone, or just you and 3 AI bots (4 if mastermind included?)
But from what I remember from a screenshot SPECIFICALLY detailing the single player, it was just the one player, so it might be possible? So just try to keep an open mind, it may not be as bad as everyone's expecting. I wonder if Capcom themselves are even thinking the same thing in this case..
EDIT: {1 Player and 1 AI(?) Mastermind} 1 player and 1 AI(?) mastermind. Huh, I didn't know that! I haven't followed news around Resistance since I'm not really interested in it: gameplay looks a bit too messy and awkward, characters seem kinda generic and the HUD is way too intrusive... But surely I'll give it a shot since it's bundled with RE3.

I was thinking they would probably leave out the mercenaries mode (was hoping to see it return) but dropping the alternate endings really makes no sense...

Looks bad ass and impressive! There are still things that annoy me a bit such as the weird hairstyle of Carlos and the clone of Milla Jovovich, but Nemesis looks really so good. Can't wait!!!

here's the press release info:
Jill Valentine is the central “S.T.A.R.” of Resident Evil 3, but she’s not alone as Raccoon City’s final chapter unfolds. The survival horror game also features a colorful cast of friends, foes and bloodthirsty adversaries amidst a city ravaged by the devastating effects of the T-virus. Today, Capcom released a new cinematic trailer, screenshots and artwork that reveal more of the action-packed drama in the game, featuring closer looks at additional key characters. Jill’s unofficial partner Carlos Oliveira (depending on who you ask), the rest of the Umbrella Biohazard Countermeasure Service (U.B.C.S.) platoon, the Hunter enemy, and the game’s unstoppable Nemesis, all have major parts to play when Resident Evil 3 releases on April 3.
Fans got just a quick glimpse of Nemesis swathed in a wall of fire when Resident Evil 3 was announced in December – new art assets today show how truly devastating he can be. Umbrella Corp.’s unrelenting bioweapon hunts Jill with an arsenal of heavy duty weapons, including an enormous flame thrower and a laser-guided rocket launcher that leave little hope for escape. In addition to its hardware, a new screenshot depicts Nemesis’ elongated tentacle mutation that strikes with lethal accuracy. These grotesque protrusions only emerge as the black bandages obscuring Nemesis’ mutilated form fall apart to reveal the results of Umbrella’s cruel experimentation. Jill tries multiple times to destroy Nemesis, but thanks to its highly regenerative capabilities, it keeps coming back stronger than before.
While Jill is perfectly capable of taking care of herself, looking out for her six is Carlos Oliveira, a U.B.C.S. member experienced with guerilla warfare, proficient with various weapons, and trained to fly small aircraft. His team arrived in Raccoon City expecting an easy evacuation mission, but were quickly overwhelmed. As Carlos organizes their extraction, his courage and sense of justice compel him to go beyond his orders to uncover the truth about Umbrella Corp.’s devious actions. The latest assets depict Carlos’ harrowing ordeal in Raccoon City, including moments where players take control of the character throughout Resident Evil 3.
The new trailer and screenshots also provide a closer look at more of the characters in Resident Evil 3:
Brad Vickers – He is one of the sole survivors of the Mansion Incident (depicted in the original Resident Evil) and helped with investigations into Umbrella Corp. As one of the last surviving members of S.T.A.R.S. in Raccoon City, he’s also in Nemesis’ sights.
Mikhail Victor – The U.B.C.S. commanding officer is a leader with years of military and commanding experience. Mikhail was seriously injured in his team’s mission to evacuate survivors from Raccoon City. Despite his dire circumstance, he still does as much as he can to help civilians and his platoon. It is his compassion to save Raccoon City’s citizens that convince Jill to help their cause.
Nicholai Ginovaef – This U.B.C.S. team leader is incredibly resilient, cold and calculating, willing to make the necessary sacrifices for the mission and his own benefit. Nicholai dismisses Jill as a “bleeding heart” who will get herself killed.
Tyrell Patrick – This U.B.C.S. member is a seasoned veteran specializing in hacking and disabling security devices. Tyrell provides invaluable support from behind the lines.
Murphy Seeker – This U.B.C.S. member and former U.S. Marine is an exceptional sniper. Like Mikhail, he also gets seriously injured during the Raccoon City mission.
Dario Rosso – A civilian Jill encounters in a warehouse in uptown Raccoon City who is reeling from the shock of losing his family. Dario rejects Jill’s pleas to escape the crumbling city.
Hunter enemy – Both Jill and Carlos will encounter this terrifying new monster in Resident Evil 3. These bioweapons were created by combining the genetic material of humans and reptiles, creating an incredibly fast and powerful adversary.

If they just mirrored (flipped) her hair, it would be accurate.
Edit: ok I was comparing some renders of Jill and I noticed, that in the original RE3, her hair is actually very close to how it is depicted in the upcoming Remake, it turns out that the hair style was flipped when they remade her re3 costume for RE Remake, in which they made the hair style match up with her S.T.A.R.S. uniform from the first game; also the new color scheme is in the original brighter colors that the original game renders had featured.

I find it weird that they keep painting the Hunter enemy as something new when they already had appearances storyline wise before these events, Jill has encountered them before.

I find it weird that they keep painting the Hunter enemy as something new when they already had appearances storyline wise before these events, Jill has encountered them before. This being another remake/re-imagining, like RE2, not everyone who played that, not only necessarily played the original, but never played a RE game before it either. So in the case you're someone like that, then that's probably why it's done this way. If this is your first RE game, well, here you go. It's not like Jill herself is detailing the game to the reader after all.
I figured as much, still a VERY large part of their audience is fans who have played the previous games, I understand that it may be "new" to whatever new fans they get from it but it seems like a weird move to alienate your old school fans with such a line since its only going to make them scratch their heads by billing such a common and staple enemy as "new" in their advertisements, the reasoning is understandable but it just sticks out like a sore thumb to me when reading it lol.

I was already OK with the new Nemesis, but after seeing him in-game and in full motion, I'm COMPLETELY sold on the new re-design now! He looks terrifying. Definitely scarier than the original IMO.
