Im an OG Resident Evil & Doom fan (not bragging or anything, just stating where my loyalties lie) I was very happy with Doom '16 & I am absolutely thrilled with what I see in the upcoming sequel. Hopefully we can get some Doom '16/eternal models modded into a Resident Evil game. After all, they have always been my 2 favorite game franchises. Seeing them come together would be faptastic. Frickin 2019... I got my 2 favorite games ever remade! RE2 & Doom 2. LOL lucky me. Finishing Doom '16 on Nightmare was just about the most satisfying gaming experience I've ever had. The difficulty curve is astoundingly brilliant. If you haven't played it. Give it a shot.

I'm a huge fan of the classic id games myself(if you couldn't tell by my avatar...) Grew up playing Doom and Quake and never grew out of it.
Having said that, I actually didn't like Doom '16. To be fair though, I never played myself, I just watched my brother play it, and I didn't like what I saw - trading traditional PC save system for console Checkpoints, having to chase down and punch robots for upgrades seemed like a gimmick designed to make a moron chuckle, and it just looked like they where trying to make Doom 'hip' in general. Feels like id just isn't the same now that all the old guard are gone. I'm not even sure who's left, Cloud maybe? Or has he left too?
Of course, those were just my impressions from watching someone else play Doom '16. If I played it myself, I very well might have a different opinion about it.(except for the punching-robots-for-upgrades thing - that's stupid)
I did notice either Lance Hendrickson - or someone who could do his voice very well - voiced your robot Ally(?). That's actually a huge point in it's favor. And the fact that the game basically throws you straight into the action right at the start. That's the proper way to begin a Doom game.
As for Doom Eternal excitement; It looks kool in the videos - but I thought the same about '16. I think I'm more excited for games like Fear Effect Reinvented and VtM Bloodlines 2.
